Here's what he has to say to those who don't like what the Dolphins did.

(On the draft critics scrutinizing some of the selections that are made during the draft) – “I would say that the one that are projecting them and are not in the draft room and aren’t in the business, really don’t know what we go through. We keep it highly secretive, its highly confidential information, our scouts don’t talk and so I don’t know where some people would get their information. Unless they have been on the road scouting, like myself and our other scouts who do a tremendous job, they would not know the needs of the teams are, sometimes they don’t know the character of the player, they are just kind of going out there and I don’t know where they are getting their information. So I don’t pay much attention to it to be honest with you and don’t really care to be honest with you.”

He pays enough attention to it to address it.

Most of us aren't naive enough to think the FO gives a rats *** what we think as fans, and frankly I'd be worried if they did. Doesn't change the fact that this is a message board and people should be able to freely express their opinions.

Pat White was a reach.

he was asked the question... its not like he just randomly brought it up... i doubt he cares one lick about what experts or fans think of the draft...

all that matters is how they perform on the field... so people can cry and whine and ***** and say how they would have done a million things different, but if in the end its a great draft class, thats all that matters

not according to Front office

just a joke

Lets see how we are going to use Pat White
I to feel this pick could have been a reach.

But once you think outside the box
Ire,Bill, and Tony was all in agreement on this pick

So I can see Tony and Co. making this work...
2day Ire did a interview on WQAM
basically said Pat is the future in the Wildcat...

When is the last time you could say the Dolphins are on the CUTTING EDGE

I think that Ireland understands that the so called expert's jobs are actually selling ad space/papers/keeping viewers... So most of what they say will be for entertainment value... if you believed Mayock on the NFLN then every single player they talked about was the 'best in the draft' at something... :sidelol:

So if someone makes a comment that pat white was taken early, you think its ok to label that person a whiner or cryer? Last time I checked all opinions on this Forum were welcome, not just those of the majority.

Why should any GM give a rats behind about what these so called draft gurus think. If they were so good they'd be working for a real team and making selections for real.

i never said that... i thought pat white was picked early myself...

im saying people CAN cry, whine, *****, complain, jump off cliffs, WHATEVER in terms of the class right now... but it doesn't matter, all that matters is what happens on the field, and i know ireland and the coaching staff all understand that

He is a QB who will compete for henne. Not a reach. Do you know what a reach is? A RB would have been a reach....

They want Beck gone. Penny is gone in a year. that leaves only Henne.. do the math.

I want Beck gone. He sucks and he is a wimp.

For all the people that say Pat White was a reach, maybe he was, maybe not. But Sean Smith and Vontae Davis were great value picks and BIG TIME steals at the spots we got them, so get over it!

Every indication from the team is that theyre thrilled with Henne's progress. I understand its a great idea to hedge your bet and have some else on the team you like, but in the 2nd round?

OK, penny is gone in a year as you say, we're not going to have 3 young qbs on the roster, the FO picks up a veteran. And you also have Henne. Fine, take a project in the 4th or 5th. Not a guy who has flat out said he's not a gimmick or a wr, he's a qb, in the 2nd. If the trifecta is as sold on Henne as theyre leading us to believe, White could be a problem that doesnt appear willing to accept any role other than starting qb.

Pat White was a reach.

Calling a pick a "reach" is the one criticism that I don't like. It is only really valid if you know where every team had the player ranked. If the Dolphins had White ranked in that spot, then it is not a reach to take him there. The question is whether you agree with their ranking. It is an important distinction because even if White turns out to be a great player, some will still justify their own position by saying "he was still a reach" instead of saying "my evaluation of that player was wrong".

I dont know if Pat White is a reach but the te we took in rd 5 was a reach.

what Sparano doesnt understand is the media crams the patriots and jets down our throats so we as fans have presure to want our fins to keep up with new england , Jets and Bills.

usually when the media doesnt talk about a team it usually means we had a unspectacular draft.

I think the pats did so much better then miami but that doesnt mean we will be a bad team this year.

I am guilty of caring too much what the media says sometime that i get crazy with wanting be better then what we actually are.

just a reminder Parcells and Ireland are human so they too will make mistakes and Sparano isnt that experienced as a head coach yet.

It's not so much that folks express dissenting critical opinions as it is the contentious buffoonish way in which some do (see "Pacells"). Often that's the equivalent of waving a red flag in front of a bull and then not expecting him to charge!
