Dolphins guard Jeno James is expected to miss several weeks of playing time as a result of a new injury to his right knee, coach Nick Saban said today.

Following Sunday's Kansas City game, James initially thought he aggravated a previous injury, an issue that required arthroscopic surgery three weeks ago. However, an MRI today revealed new cartilage damage, requiring a more significant recovery process.

''We scoped his knee a couple weeks ago, and it didn't have any cartilage [damage] or anything like that. We just cleaned his knee out,'' Saban said. ``He does have cartilage [damage] now that he got in the game. It's a new injury.

``That's going to need to be addressed. He may be out for a couple of weeks. We'll just have to take it week-to-week for the next couple of weeks.''

James left Sunday's win against the Chiefs during the first half. Guard Kendyl Jacox replaced James in the win against the Chiefs. Jacox likely will remain the starter during James' absence, but he also will be challenged by Toniu Fonoti, who was signed last week to add depth at the position.

Running back Ronnie Brown also was slowed by a groin injury during Sunday's game. Saban said the team will ''manage'' the injury throughout the course of the week. His status for Sunday's game is unknown.

Wow, uncertain? If he misses the game that will be a HUGE blow to the offense.

damnt! we dont need this crap lol. yeah i kinda had the feeling when i noticed james was out the whole entire 2nd half....good news is that it didnt really damper the running game that badly. lets just hope that jacox or funoti can step it up and keep the pace goin....i'd recommend jacox only bc he's familiar with the offense and has more potential to gel quicker than funoti.

I'm not too worried about Ronnie he finished the game strong and got into the endzone...granted it was a one yard td run. he'll be alright...he's a tough player IMO.

Yeah, that's typical. No sooner do we finally get some rythem going on the o-line and hey- a serious injury. Dammit.

Jacox also did a pretty good job filling in for James yesterday. He'd be the logical choice.

D'oh! This is very bad news. The line was just coming together.

It sucks that our o line has yet another injury right before we are about to play a team with a good run defense. The Vikings are solid in the middle of the defense and we were going to need james to help out with that.

If Brown is out, that will be a bigger blow than James. I'm not sold on anyone behind him to carry the load, even though Morris is good in spot duty.

As long as Kendyl Jacox doesn't give up any big sacks and blocks for Ronnie, I could see him staying at LG for the remainder of James' injury. If he doesn't do well then we have a pretty good backup plan in Fonoti. I don't think this injury is too severe for the offense, and we should do just fine.

Brown should be held out of practices. I know he's only a 2nd year player but I think he has that status already. Let him rest that groin for as long as humanly possible before the next game.

Although mixing up the oline might not be a good idea from a consistancy standpoint... but I would like to move Shelton to LG, and put Fonoti at RG. Fonoti knows this blocking system from his days in SD with Houck.

Talent and skill wise, this makes the most sense... but maybe not from a consistancy standpoint.

Nah, I disagree. James was stuggling all year to begin with. This is the reason he got his knee scoped to begin with.

We may even improve with Jacox or Fonoti. :cooldude:

ESPNEWS says James is out 1 week, basically 2 games since we play on Turkeyday. Jacox seemed to do a nice job. Will Fonoti be activated, that may help our line too???

That's why we need Ricky. People don't realize how important he is/can be to this team. Just think, (nothing at all against Ronnie) if Ronnie is out next week.....so what? We have Ricky. We wouldn't miss a beat!

It always sucks to have injurys happen but I don't see it becoming a major problem. Kendyl Jacox played fairly well yesterday. I believe that the cohesion is starting to come around with this line. That includes backups. It will probably only be a matter of time before Toniu Fonoti works himself into game shape. Then we'll have some decent depth.
