Dolphins guard Jeno James is expected to miss several weeks of playing time as a result of a new injury to his right knee, coach Nick Saban said today.
Following Sunday's Kansas City game, James initially thought he aggravated a previous injury, an issue that required arthroscopic surgery three weeks ago. However, an MRI today revealed new cartilage damage, requiring a more significant recovery process.
''We scoped his knee a couple weeks ago, and it didn't have any cartilage [damage] or anything like that. We just cleaned his knee out,'' Saban said. ``He does have cartilage [damage] now that he got in the game. It's a new injury.
``That's going to need to be addressed. He may be out for a couple of weeks. We'll just have to take it week-to-week for the next couple of weeks.''
James left Sunday's win against the Chiefs during the first half. Guard Kendyl Jacox replaced James in the win against the Chiefs. Jacox likely will remain the starter during James' absence, but he also will be challenged by Toniu Fonoti, who was signed last week to add depth at the position.
Running back Ronnie Brown also was slowed by a groin injury during Sunday's game. Saban said the team will ''manage'' the injury throughout the course of the week. His status for Sunday's game is unknown.
