How good can this guy be this year?

I thought he made some improvements last year. Gotta love him in the running game, I wonder if he can improve in pass pro?

Where do you rank him in the scheme of NFL guards?

Interesting to see we were #1 in the league running off left tackle, and #6 running left end plays.

Could Jeno go to the Pro Bowl?

Wow, thats very suprising. These numbers are decieving. I mean D-Mac who was our LT last season probably won't even start this year. I think a lot has to be credited to the blocking from the te's, fb's, and rb's. Oh yeah, and I can't forget Hudson Houck.

No, plays run off left tackle were #1, that's not the same thing.

Obviously if you run a play to left tackle or left end, you're going to have all your linemen making blocks... for example a key could be the left guard pulling out over the tackle.

Oddly, despite the success we had running left side we focussed on running to the right when we ran outside the central channel.

Eventually, maybe. He has to first establish himself as one of the best before that will happen. Meaning he'll have to become more consistent not only in pass protection but in run blocking as well. Alot of the players selected to the Pro Bowl get there based on reputation not performance.

Aside from the top guys (Faneca, Wahle, Waters, Hutchison etc) who do you rate ahead of Jeno at the G position in the NFL?

Hutchinson is no longer a factor for keeping James from the Pro Bowl...he's now in the NFC. Adding to the ones you mentioned, I would have to add one of the best of all-time, Will Shields.

but what a drastic improvement from the year before, man houck must be a genius to make a jump after one year from the bottom of the league to allmost top 10 with the same guys

so on the other hand, there needs some work to be done to the right side and the middle

Keep in mind that this was a very young and raw O-line 2 yrs ago. I think a lot of the improverment has also come from the natural maturation that you see in O-lineman.

When was he in the AFC? He has been on Seattle his whole career. Last time I checked Seattle is in the NFC too.

Back on topic, James is a good LG, but he is not one of the elite guards in the league. There was talk that he struggled (under Tony Wise) when he had to help pick up the block for the C. He played well last year (under Houck) so I expect to see big things.

When you talk about Pro Bowls... that is purely popularity. When it comes to Olinemen usually once you make the Pro Bowl you will continue to make it for a while. The fans (voters) are typically not real accurate in voting in the BEST linemen.

I think he does not get the credit from most people because he spends so much time on the ground. He gets knocked down or falls at least a dozen times a game. If he can stay up I think he would get a more serious look.

Good link...and McIntosh is a mauler in the run game, so I can see how he was top rated...the problem was always his lack of quickness in pass protection.
