Broncos | Rice Still Deciding - from www.KFFL.com
Mon, 23 May 2005 18:31:12 -0700

Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports free agent WR Jerry Rice (Seahawks) is still deciding if he wants to accept the contract offer given to him by the Denver Broncos. Rice will make his final decision within the next 48 hours. His agent, Jim Steiner, spent Monday, May 23 talking again to Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan.

What is he pondering? His agent sent a letter begging for a job. If the Broncos offer a contract I think he would jump all over it. Denver isn't a bottom barrel team either.

He should have retired a 49er. In my mind, he has already lost a lot of his reputation as the best.

I agree that it would have been nice for him to retire a San Francisco 49er and that, that would have just been right. But he lit it up for Oakland in 2002... 92 catches 1211yds 7 TD's. Not to mention in 2000, his first year with them... 83 catches for 1139 yds 9 TD's. It would have been great if he retired a Niner, but he lit it up at 40 YEARS OLD and had a Pro Bowl calibur season (made Pro Bowl as well) in 2002 with the Oakland Raiders. The guy still loved the game and truly showed why he was the greatest of all time... he and Gannon lead them to the Super Bowl... both two guys who fans and media have said "SHOULD HAVE RETIRED" many years ago.
