I like Ward but I donno if he's worth giving up 3 - 1st rounders for. Those NY teams just arnt run well.

Maybe I'm wrong, I gotta admit, I havnt paid much attention to Ward bc he's been such a lock for QB1 off the board.

I'm a Canes fan and I don’t get all the love for Ward. Not saying he's a bad player but to say he's the top player in the draft, I don’t think so
The issue is he is the top QB in a fairly weak class by recent standards. I wouldn’t even give Sanders a 1st round grade. In all seriousness, I think the day 2 guys, if given time, might actually be the best QBs in the class. A kid like Milroe has crazy upside if the right team can coach him up. He could also flop, but that is the risk you take with QBs.

I dont think he is, but no one wans to get stuck having to take Sanders because they need a QB.

Ward is the better bet imo. Is he worth all those picks? I dunno.

that right there.....a lot depends on which team they go to. When a QB gets drafted late 1st round and they do better than QB's drafted earlier just look at the team they went to. Marino was the 6th QB taken in the 1st round back in 83 but he went to a team that went to the SB the year before so of course that helped him get off to a great start right off the bat.

When your team sucks (and has sucked for a long time), who cares about draft picks.

If they make the playoffs year 1 or 2 with Cam (a la Jayden Daniels and the Commanders), then it will be worth the trade.
When your team sucks and you have back to back drafts with the least amount of picks, and not a lot of backfill because of it.....you don't trade more draft picks. This team is FAR from a QB away from being a contender.

agree. he seems to hold the ball a long time. but at least he does it to try and drive the ball downfield, unlike sanders who holds it and often still throws short. great kid, great attitude too, unlike sanders who seems to have all sorts of maturity issues (and I would not want the circus that comes along with his dad). but i am still somewhat skeptical of ward. hard for me to know how much getting the ball out more quickly can be coached and schemed. having said all of that, if I were the titans, who have no QB, i might give it a shot. by the same token, if i was one of the other teams, i would not give up a haul of picks to try and move up to get him either. gm me wouldn't draft sanders high.

XACTLY. But I'll add two points.
Pick the current top 5 QBs. How many were drafted in 1st 5 picks? JMHO, but only 2-3 in the last 10 yrs look like they'd be a Mahomes, JA, LJ if they were on a top team.
This also shows the (in)ability to identify talent. Again, JMO, but any team getting Mahomes would likely get to the playoffs. He's that good. Yet, none of the QB-starved teams saw him as good enough to be a top 5 pick. Not just the teams, but 'experts.'
whether it's TT, or Stroud, or Geno Smith, they would be more productive and seen as much better on one of the top 3-4 teams. OTOH, most of the QBs taken in top 5 picks barely move the needle on their new team. Excluding the elites, teams matter. even good QBs don't help much.
