Jets attempting to renegotiate contract with Pennington

Id spend my time negotiating a buyout and start negotiating with Leinart or Cutler if I was them. A guy with a lightweight arm to begin with is going to be useless after this string of injuries.
 
"Ok Chad..if your arm doesnt fall off we'll give you 10 million, but if it does we'll give you 2 ham Sandwiches a day...how does that sound?"
 
I expect something to get done on March 2. He will take a much lower base salary in exchange for a guaranteed roster spot in 2006. If it were to go to March 3, the Jest would have to cut him. The Jest lose because they have to take a huge cap hit this season. And Chad loses because, given his two rotator cuff surgeries, he probably won't even get invited to a training camp in 2006 and may not get a whiff of the NFL again. (Anybody seen Tim Couch lately?)
