The NFL has fined the New York Jets $100,000 for the Week 14 incident against the Miami Dolphins in which strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi tripped cornerback Nolan Carroll(notes) during a punt return. Alosi was fined $25,000 by the team and suspended indefinitely soon after the incident.
The league fine wasn't just for the Alosi trip and the fact that he put other team employees in a prohibited position on the sideline; special teams coach Mike Westoff also got popped for speculating that the New England Patriots have used similar tactics in the past.
"They're cheaters," Dolphins inside linebacker Channing Crowder(notes) said after the game. "They do what they do. They cheat. They talk junk. But we beat the hell out of them today."
(Well, not really - the Dolphins won, 10-6. But anyway...)
