Jets lose another FA

Jenkins sucks, and all Tampa does it get the JETS scrubs!! IE..(Key)MESHAWN JOHNSON!!

I have to say

...I'd prefer to kick their asses with them a good side than with a ramshackle team. But hey, breaking the streak anywhichway suits me fine.

I know what you mean Gaz, when we see them this year and they are getting embarrassed week in and week out, you'll almost feel sorry for them....almost.....well, a little.......no,just a slight bit.....actually, not really, at all......It will probably be comical, to tell the truth......downright hilarious even......It will be one of the greatest seasons ever!!!....I'M SPORTING WOOD JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!

gotta go..

KJ is a scrub who started in the Pro Bowl and caught 100 passes

Jenkins should give Bucs strong guard tandem first Young and not Jenkins, Mawae can only do so much for that OL, but w/o help C Martin will be having a tougher time running the ball, especially ag. us w/ our new run stopper: Larry Chester :D

Come on 39, every player we lost, we are replacing with a better player for our system. We resigned Machado a couple months ago to replace Jenkins. Our line now consists of
LT-Fabini(very good)
LG-Machado(great potential)
C-Mawae(#1 center in league)
RG-Thomas(top 3 G's in league)
RT-McKenzie(our 3rd round pick that the FO thinks is ready)
Back up RT-Jumbo Elliot(a year off rested his ailling back)

As for our defense- Garnes is a better fit for our Cover 2 d than Green(also cheaper)
We are rumered to be close to signing DT Josh Evans from Tenn.
Shadetree was brought back,
AND we just SIGNED SAM COWART to replace Farrior!!!!!

http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0306/1346420.html
he's younger, faster and better than Jimmy!
Cowart is a top 3 LB in the league.

only a 1.8 miliion signing bonus so it's not a cap killing contract.

We need 1 cb and our rebuilt defense will be complete.

Oh yeah, as for your 'run stopper" Chester. (ha ha ha) this is the guy who couldn't crack the starting line-up on a D that gave up almost 3000 yard rushing last year! Wasn't he the DT on that great Colt's line a few years ago?

Ya he only started 5 games for Carolina and was their ONLY run stopper. 27 tackles is nothing to sneeze at when you only start 5 games Chops and only play in 11. The guy can bench 680lbs and is considered to be a fierce run stopper. If there is one things the phins have been good at it's knowing their defensive linemen.

You don't honestly think Curtis is going to have much of a chance running against us now with Jason Taylor/Tim Bowens/Chester and Gardener lining up on running downs do you?

those 4 giant assumptions - Fabini and Mawae are good, but Thomas is overrated.

Cowart is good but that achilles tendon better be good and ready or the Jets just bought a hospital case.

Also what's with the contract they gave him? If he achieves all the playing time incentives they need to pony up @$8M next year

Sounds like a contract that they have no intention of taking past one or two years to me....

It's a playing time bonus that max's out at 6 million, payable over 5 years.(1.2 mil a year isn't a cap killer)
It's basically a 1 year deal worth 3 million. After that they see how healthy he is and we go from there. 3 mil is an exceptable risk to take on a 27 year old playmaker. IMO when healthy he's the 2nd or 3rd best LB in the AFC.

3rd, right behind Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones(ha-j/k)

we do have one of the top lbing cores in the league now though.

We are about to sign DT Josh Evans from Tenn. He's a three gap technique player in the Sapp mold. We will use him the same way in our 'Tampa" defense. Yes, he very talented and a three time loser in the drug policy. One more offense and he's banned from the league indefinately. Not a bad risk, the contract should have a no-drug incentive, or a void clause if he tests positive again. Hey, you guys know all about players and the drug policy-right?

BTW - Chester started the last 5 games he played in 2001. He broke his leg in Week 11 and was put on IR. And most coaches will agree that he's one of the best run players out there now.
