Jets not eliminated from playoffs by Patriots win...

Jets can get second wildcard with win and Ravens loss. And since the Ravens game against Jacksonville also takes place at 4:15, the Jets will DEFINITELY be playing for something.

true, but the Jets had to something to play for for all of December and didn't exactly shine. if it wasn't for a Losman fumble, they'd be out of it already. i'm not sure they can reverse their momentum just like that.

They'll have something to play for as long as the Ravens game is close or they keep the score secret from everyone in the stadium. Which is next to impossible. At some point guys are going to stop thinking about the team and start thinking about their health and their futures.

I agree, but somehow had missed hearing this scenario all week...just how the Jets were going to be lame-duck if the Pats win.

if the patriots win the jets are done, so they wont have anything to play for at 4 if new england already eliminated them. i cant see buffalo winning against them

I want the ravens to win, my daughter has offered pizza and wings to watch the game on the big screen should there be a playoff between the fins and ravens.

To keep this on post: The jests do have one thing to play for, to prove that dumping Chad P was the right move.

seriously guys, read the playoff scenarios. the Jets are alive even if the Pats won their game, which i'm fully expecting them to. if the Ravens played at 1 and won, too, only then would the Jets be eliminated. since the Ravens are playing at 4 as well, the Jets can't possibly eliminated until the Ravens-Jags game is over.

But a lot of Jets players think dumping Chad was the wrong move, and also didn't like the way the whole thing was handled.

I'm pretty sure this information is incorrect. The Patriots (10-5) have one more win than the Jets (9-6). Therefore a win by the Patriots would essentially put the last Wild Card out of reach of the Jets because the Colts already have the 5th spot locked up. (Edit: Nevermind I completely forgot that a Pats win and a Jets win would cause the Pats to win the division not the wild card)

If the Pats win and we lose, the Pats win the division, which leaves the 6th spot open. If the Ravens then lose, the Jets are in.

Edit: I see you remembered that :)

IMO, this is a better scenario for us. Teams with nothing to play for can be very dangerous, because they play carefree and sometimes unconventional football (see K.C.). Playing for the wild card is still failure for the jest, but just enough to keep them from playing "care free" football.

I think everyone knew the Jets still had a glimmer of hope even if New England won. They're not making it in either way.

If Miami has the ball when they anounce the winner of that game, we need to go deep. Rip out their heart and stomp on their throat at the same time.
