The jets gave up a a 2nd-3rd rounder for a QB that will most likely retire after this year because he just doesnt got it anymore and release chad pennington and practically gave him straight to us and he didnt even bring them to the playoffs. With all that money they spent on the offseason (faneca, pace, favre...) they are gonna be in cap problems soon. How long will this set back the jets?

I think it is funny now that miami went after the smaller names that were solid players and end up being in a better situation that the jets.

Give credit to Sparano becuase he is coaching a lesser talented team to win 10+ games and possibly the playoffs. Next season we will get a tougher schedule but im sure we will make some more offseason moves to improve.

I don't understand why everyone say the Dolphins have less talent then the Jets. We have two first rounders and a second rounder anchoring the OL. We have a #2 draft all pro runningback. We have a top QB in all of the NFL. We have an ALL pro LB that's one of the NFL sack leaders and a secondary and special team with a chip on their shoulders. How does this stack up as less talent when you compare them to anyone in the NFL much less the Jets?

It just does... Can't wait till the Draft and till miami Steals more players off other teams Practice squads!! Here comes a Dynasty.

long, smiley(IR), carey are all 1st rounders
satele is a 2nd
next season will be even better.
also thats looks good going into the post season pending a win sunday

If the jets make the playoffs then they give up a second, if not then they keep it.

so its 3rd, then a second if they make the playoffs, then a 1st if the go to the SB

The Pick the Jets gave for Favre is based on Favres playing time and team performance. Unless the Jets somehow make the playoffs I believe the Favre trade will cost them a 3rd round draft pick.

The Jets are not in cap trouble. I'm telling you Parcells brought Tannenbaum to the Jets because he was a Cap Specialist. I dont have the Jets cap numbers in front of me right now and I dont feel like looking them up but im banking on Favre retiring which clears up a lot of money and then they have Barton's contract coming off the books. I know you never can tell with Favre but I just cant see him coming back to the Jets unless this team makes it deep into the playoffs which I just dont see happening.

What the Jets have to do in the off season is make a decision on Mangini and the QB situation, find out if Gholston is a player, and get rid of guys with Bad contracts like Bryan Thomas and it would be nice to get rid of Barrets contract as well.

if we finish this off... man how funny is that... another huge mistake to go down in jets history !

It just demonstrates how inept the Jets FO is. They are a terrible franchise. Laughingstock.

Good information. Thanks!

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Favre in the off season plays the I'm retiring...No I'm not.. dance with the Jets. I've lost some respect for Favre because of the way he kept the Packers hanging for the last few seasons.

And honestly, I wouldn't laugh at the Jets until they're officially out of the playoffs. As bad as they've looked the last few weeks, the do have some talent. A lucky win or two and suddenly they're in the Super Bowl. Honestly, how many people thought the Giants were the best team in the NFL going into the playoffs last season?

Favre isn't going anywhere this off-season. He'll be back.

That was still a good trade for them if you ask me. He may not be the MVP Favre of old (like he's hyped as) but he's good enough, he has them contending for a playoff spot. Lets not forget they won only 4 games last year.

Losing Chad Pennington may have been a fatal mistake for them, but i think he needed a change of scenery anyway. A team with less pressure, a young team where he could change the attitude/landscape as he's a veteran who's won in the past. I doubt Pennington has as good as season with the Jets this year as he does in Miami. He seems to be a perfect fit in Miami.

The worst part for the jet's cutting Chad, was where he ended up playing.

The Calvin Pace issue makes me laugh. Recall that both teams pursued him heavily during FA.
He chose the Jets because he felt they were in a position to compete now and the Phins were not.
Just another subplot in this final game.

I think it's a 3 unless we make the playoffs but we may or may not be set back. Favre held us back this year, we don't need a star QB we just need decent QB play. Remember how awful Chad looked last year? He bounced back w/ a better OL, Clemens looked awful last year but I'd like to see what he could do w/ the talent we currently have. he won't be relied upon to win games like they have foolishly relied on Favre.
