A couple of thoughts from a closet Seahawks fan....(shhhhh!)
The ESPN article posted earlier mentions that Seattle is skeptical of next year's draft class with the college football season in possible limbo this year. Who will come out? How many games will they play this year? Who could they draft at the end of the 1st round next year anyway?
Also, if you follow the Seahawks like I do, you know that Seattle has absolutely no clue what to do with a first round draft pick besides trade down. This year they drafted Jordyn Brooks, an ILB considered a 2-3 round player. In 2018 they drafted Rashaad Penny and before that Malik McDowell (top 2nd, 1st traded away) who never played a down after an ATV accident.
Seattle is New England West. They make their hay on late round draft picks (Wilson, Wagner, Wright, Sherman, Carson etc...) and retread FAs with past success (Duane Brown, Greg Olsen, Bruce Irvin, Clowney, Micheal Bennett). They also collect good UFAs. It's just what they do.... and it works!
The Seahawks don't care about two low 1st round picks, they got a firey 24 YO Pro-Bowl proven player who wants to win. Hopefully they can resign him but Seattle is a great team and a good environment for players.
Meanwhile, the Jets can use the extra draft picks for their next rebuild.
