Jets will lateral their way to defensive touchdowns...

I don't like this strategy. In the NFL, possessions are critical. As a defense, I want to take the ball and give it to my offense no questions asked. I don't want my defense doing to much to become an offense. There are certainly times when this is beneficial, but in my opinion, only with key blocks and a guy who knows how to find the end zone with great vision (ie: Ed Reed). I don't want to see laterals and trickery that could possibly lead to the defense turning the ball back over to the offense. Get the ball. Secure the ball. Get your offense back on the field.

Might sound like creative thinking until it fails miserably and that interception jets fans were just cheering about quickly turns into a fumble lost.

You mean just like the fumble JP had last season at the end of the Jets game?

This is something we've all seen the Ravens have success with for years. Ryan talked about how it's a calculated risk taken by certain players in certain situations. I have no problem with it. It's worked well for the Ravens, why not us?

I highly doubt the Jets are just going to pick off a pass and just start carelessly throwing the ball around in the air LOL.

Basically what there saying is that if they see an oppurtunity to do it they will. Nothing wrong with that.

btw - they've returned 2 or 3 INT's for TD's w/a latteral in camp so far. Seems to be working out OK.

Because the Ravens have a great returner named Ed Reed, you guys do not. I hope this is true, but I suspect it won't be after they hand the ball back to the offense the first time they try it.

Because you don't have Ed Reed. The Raven defense is 1 of a kind, I doubt the Jets defense can really benefit from lateraling the ball to try and score. My guess is, they'll end up losing more games because of it than winning more games. But that's just me....

Of course we don't have Ed Reed. We don't have Ray Lewis or Terrell Suggs either. The Jets have a lot of talent on defense though. Let's see what Ryan can do with it.

Like I said, they've already returned 2 or 3 for TD's with a lateral in camp.

We do have great returners on our defense though.

Lito Sheppard has had 2 INT's returned for TD of over 100 yards, a record Reed just broke. We also have Leonhard (6th best NFL avg/punt in '08) and Revis (outstanding PR in college) who are great punt returners.

Go ahead and write it off as a joke. It's not that difficult to execute a frikin lateral, you just have to be smart about it. You won't be laughing if it happens to turn into a TD against you.

Miami's very own Ted Ginn Jr. always looks stunning in camp, but once he's in an actual game, he turns into a non-factor. Camp doesn't really determine how things will work in game.

I agree, but the ingredients are there for the same success we've seen the Ravens have with it in the past and they are showing flashes in camp.

I hope you're right 'cause our QB's are playing pretty bad so far in camp.
