My buddy out in the midwest who is a die hard Packers fan, says that there is a lot of talk about Jim Bates getting the coaching job out there. I think it is well deserved and awesome. Bates deserves a shot and I would hope for his best success.

what you guys think?

Hey I'd be the first to congratulate him...then try and sell him Sam Madison for a 2nd round pick.

I think he would make an excellent head coach. Their defense has played well for their talent level this year and all of the giveaways their offense has had. He also had our offense playing at a higher level the last 7 games of last year. I think he deserves a chance on that level.

As long as he doesn't coach in the AFCE, I'd be very happy for him. I think the GB job would be a good one for him. He's done a pretty good job with their defense and really motivated this team last year.

I don't know, does Farve want to hire him? Thats whats really running the team at this point. Farve retires, he has a shot, he stays, Sherm stays. Bates is a likeable guy and a good coordinator but I wouldnt hire him as a headcoach. Our defense was always a big game choke defense with him, I hate to say it but it was the truth. Greenbay has been playing meaningless games for months now, Im not sure they want to keep anyone from this coaching staff onboard after this year.

I would not be surprised if he got the Packers job. When they hired him last year, I immediately thought to myself that he will be the head coach of the Packers in 2006.

I hope he gets it. :)

That would be great for Jim. I will always have a world of respect for the way he kept the team together last year.

He deserves it, and he has a lot ofenergy for an old guy

Jim would definitely motivate the guys around him. Look what he did as our interim head coach. I wish him luck, he'll certainly need it in green bay.
