After reading a couple other threads...one that details all the candidates we've asked to interview...and one that is talking about how Ross is essentially repeating his past mistakes - the exact opposite of what he said he was going to do in his press conference...

I'm starting to panic. I really don't want some in-experienced coordinator or some lame duck failure.

The only hope I'd have is if we got Jim Harbaugh. Suddenly I'd feel like Ross has wanted this all along...and I'd hope like hell that Jim can replicate what he did in San Francisco and not perform like he has at Michigan...

Is it even possible at this point or is it a pipedream? Everything I've read says he isn't leaving Michigan...but that was before the big bowl letdown and the fans wanting his ass out of there ASAP. Maybe the money talks?

Let's for the moment assume that Jim Harbaugh is [still] a coaching god to Stephen Ross.

Now ask yourself which team Ross cares more about (in terms of winning), Michigan or the Phins. It is entirely possible Jim Harbaugh is exactly where Ross would prefer him to be.

Now if he becomes available because he and the Wolverines part ways for whatever reason, maybe...

The thing about Jim coming here, to me, is that Grier seemed to make it clear that he was running the show and that the new HC would have to adopt the vision for the future. Grier has a plan, Jim would have to go along with it. Jim seems to like being in control.

If true, he should stay in college.

First, he's not leaving Michigan.

Second, let's assume for giggles that he does leave. There's, what, 8 NFL teams looking for a head coach. The only thing Miami has going for it is that Ross is a fan? Most of those 8 teams are more appealing for a HC.

He's not coming to Miami.

If he does come, I don't want him to be what he was in San Francisco. I actually want him to win the super bowl here.

Why would anyone say they want the SF Harbaugh and not the Michigan Harbaugh? I'd say they're largely the same coach - win a nice percentage of games but not the big one.

Mr Ross is the #1 booster behind the University of Michigan. He has donated many hundreds of millions of dollars to his alma mater and the Business School actually bears his name. Ross was probably one of the key people behind the Wolverines signing him in the first place.
The only scenario where I can see Jim Harbaugh leaving Ann Arbor and coming to the Dolphins is if Jim has worn out his welcome with the key football decision makers in Michigan. After a pretty good season, the 2018 season finished disastrously for Michigan losing badly to the hated rival, Ohio State and then losing their Bowl game to the Florida Gators with a stack of good players not playing because they didn't want to risk getting injured and harm their Draft prospects.
I think that one can work off the assumption that Ross would never ever do anything to hinder Michigan. Like Harbaugh, Ross is first and foremost, a Michigan man. The Dolphins are a business that he owns and as a billionaire in his late 70's and one of the 100 wealthiest people on the planet, he desperately wants them to succeed. When Ross talks about having succeeding in every way except in terms of wins - he's talking business. He's talking profits. He's talking about the value of his investment which has progressively appreciated.
Jim Harbaugh only comes to Miami if others want him out in Michigan.

Probably gonna be bust.

I'm prepared to hibernate for the next few years. They need to figure this thing out somehow some time soon, because it's not interesting enough to watch any more.

i kind of want new blood, I'm all in on the guy from dallas

Harbaugh is the best option amoung those we have selected to interview - all of the others are completely un inspiring

all jokes aside he is waiting for that perfect jpb. He like McDaniel and McCarthy are trying to inherit a guy like baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold. They want that job security. Having that guy in place takes the biggest weight off their shoulders
