We signed Suh to a MONSTER deal, added some good young players, got rid of the fat, and have $11.8 left over without Wheeler's $3M. Great job by our FO and the Red Dawn.

I agree Southbeach. After the moves that have been made by our FO to get rid of the fat, bring in the players they brought in, and get the books in order...that indeed is a good job.

Yeah, and we will still have some money to play with on late cuts. In addition, we have around $30M in cap space to start next year. It is an impressive job, with many thinking we would not be able to play in FA. I also really liked that we have not reached for an overpriced player, and are biding our time until after the draft.

As well as they have done cleaning up the books the FO still gets an incomplete from me. There are still major holes at G, MLB, WR and in the secondary. I realize this FO can't fix everything in the off-season but they have done nothing to upgrade the TALENT in those positions. Yes, there still is the draft but without a 3rd round pick it's gonna be hard to come out with 3 impact players. Especially if they dont draft well, which is what the FO's entire premise has to be because of all the money that will be tied up between Suh and Tannehill.

Yes!! Big up the Dolphins FO they did very well. Big up Red Dawn we dun know ah she run da the salary cap ting! Bullet!! And I want to give a shout out to all the ganja man and women Pon the forum! Blessings!! Respect to all the posters on the forum as well.

This was the best we could have hoped for. We have a new pillar on defense in Suh, ans we rid ourselves of the under performing players.
Add 2 starters in the draft, and sign some preseason veterans to complete the roster.

Other than signing a high priced CB, I do not see anything more that we could have done. There was just nothing available. I cannot fault the FO for not filling some needs when there was no one there worth filling them. Who am I missing on should be signings?

Well the draft is crucial for sure, I would not be opposed to trying to trade back into the 3rd round if possible and try to just come away with 3 players that can really help us, would rather trade away some of the late picks and get back in third round which will increase our chances of getting that 3rd player which is about the best we can probably hope for out of the draft. They were in a really tight spot as we all knew, they could have opted to maybe try an fill some more holes with shall we say average type players (and I think they would have paid up for those type players based on what we saw with the salary cap rule spending etc), but I do not mind the try at going for the difference maker type players (Suh and Cobb for instance) which we have sorely lacked it's look we have been stuck in mud for years.

And kudos to the FO for being aggressive with Cobb and Jimmy Graham. Can u imagine if we added one or both of those guys! Not sure we could done both, but that would been so awesome.

When you factor in Wheeler and the net draft cost, we have over $13M left. Deduct $4M for injury insurance during the season, and we have around $9M to fill needs in late cuts or existing FA's. This is a great position to be in, as we can pretty much add who we want.

We got hit with over $22M in dead money this year, well worth it, and still have money to do what we like, I am very impressed.

That $30 million might disappear awful fast when you decide to resign or replace

Why does insurance expenditure get charged against the salary cap? Never heard of that before.

I believe he means we basically "set aside" about that much to sign players during the season when there are injuries.

I'm glad we cut the deadweight, but I don't know about applauding the way we did it. We cut bad contracts and we're taking our lumps with the dead money. There's not much skill behind that. We lost 2 quality players who we developed in Clay and Odrick who probably should have been extended sooner. I'm not wildly impressed with this offseason, but I do understand the necessity of taking a beating to purge ourselves of the miserable Ireland run.
