Joe Philbin: “Ask Matt Flynn why he’s in Seattle”

Seems like Philbin wanted Flynn, did what he could to make it happen, and expected him to come here

After that it's hard to see what happened. Maybe it was simply a case of Flynn going to the highest bidder but why weren't the Dolphins offering more ?

Seattle got him on a deal that certainly wasn't prohibitively expensive and Ross says he'll pay whatever it takes to win

Maybe Flynn will bomb in Seattle who knows. Outside of the GB offensive system he has a lot to prove I think but if Flynn plays well this could run and run

im not saying we are going to be great or not this year, but when the seahawks are no better than they have been in past years, the typical 7-9, 8-8 record and miss out on the playoffs with the ''great'' matt flynn, i cant wait to here what people say who think the guy is going to be a very good qb.

the guy is only getting hype because he happened to have the game of a lifetime, which even the greatest qbs never have statistically in their career, and that game so happened to be his last game of action before free agency so its the one everyone talks about. if not for that, no one is mentioning the name flynn, just like no one mentioned it once last year when we were 0-7 and talking about potential fall back options at qb if we missed out on luck, rg3, or barkley.

IMO, the truth is more along the lines of what Ross said. If Philbin really wanted him, he would be in Miami

I don't understand why people say this. That is being greedy. Do you really believe 8 million is a good amount of money for family values? Hell no! $$$ is nice but it IS the root of all evil. look it up. The kid wanted more cash in His pocket. Nothing to do with the family (what "family", you mean his gold digger girlfriend?). A family can live Very comfortably with a million in the bank and steady income of a 200-400,000.00 (or what not)

The more sincere/loving families are rarely a wealthy one. I work in Accounting and see a lot "wealthy" people.. they're not happy and all they care about is money.

All in All, the kid wanted more cash. Since apparently money is Everything in Today's world. December 21st couldn't come any sooner (joke).

This isn't a knock on you. It would just be nice to see football players who claim to be real men have some Value, Honor, Respect.. anything! but nope, it's all about that Paper. ...America has changed....

$10 million guaranteed sets up him and his (future) kids for the rest of their lives, why wouldn't someone take that kind of a deal?

America was built on the values of a Free Market. To each his own.

Who are we to judge? Judging others is just as bad as the sin you are accusing Flynn of.

1. Joe Philbin's compliments toward Matt Moore were backhanded, at best. You don't have to agree with me but it's clear to me that Joe Philbin isn't the biggest Matt Moore fan.

2. His comments about Matt Moore speak to me of a potential disconnect between his thoughts and Jeff Ireland's thoughts.

3. Joe Philbin is not nearly as involved in personnel decisions as you think. Jeff Ireland has Philbin and the rest of his staff watch tape, given input, and then he decides what to do with that input.

CK,

How do you know point number 3? Not being a-hole, just curious. So used to seeing complete horse crap thrown around here, it is difficult to believe the sky is blue.

His girlfriend was tweeting about pulling down the Peyton Manning billboards in Miami and putting up "DolFlynn" billboards as she wanted to live in South Beach.....but Flynn took the money and ran. I bet he loses his woman over this.

I agree with you on #1. His deal this year is cheap, so there is absolutely no reason to get rid of him. He is servicable if he has to play, and I am glad we did not overpay for Flynn or Alex Smith. They are not much better than Moore IMO.

#2. Not sure how you jump to that conclusion? Despite some of Irelands public comments, it is fairly obvious that he does not view Moore as a franchise QB, and plans to upgrade when a clear upgrade can be had. I would say Philbin would probably agree with that.

#3. Don't agree with you on this one either. While Ireland does have final say, I believe Philbin has a little more input than you are giving him credit for. Even Ross stated that if the coach (Philbin) really wanted Flynn, money would not have been a problem. I also think Philbin was a major force in the Brandon Marshall trade. If Philbin really wanted him, he would probably still be here.

Actually, Garrard has a beter resume' than Flynn, so I don't see why the media has gone out of their way to manufacture this perceived problem with the Dolphins
While I have moved on from the Flynn thing and am willing to hold final judgement until after the draft, I don't want to hear anything abour Gerrard and resume's. BoB Griese has a better resume than Matt Flynn, but that doesn't mean he CURRENTLY is a better QB than Flynn. I have no illusions that anyone currently on our roster is going to be our franchise QB (anyone thinking otherwise is just kidding themselves). But if we get one in the draft, then everyone will forget about Flynn and probably even Manning. If we don't, then you are going to see gloves come off from many of our fans.

it's funny how no one has brought up Ireland/Philbin saying multiple times that they only viewed 1 QB in FA as a franchise QB. Thats why Flynn isn't here

I do get your point, but it's not like we're talking an extra $5/hour here. He got offered some serious extra cheddar & he took it. That doesn't make him the bad guy.

/my 2 cents.

Edit: No offense intended, but after re-reading your last paragraph ... Did you want him to stay in Green Bay as a backup? If not, then if you're gonna be a mercenary, why not get paid???
