It sounds like the Lions are going to end up cutting Harrington. When he ends up on the FA market, I think we should look hard at him. I know Saban will never overpay for anyone, but imagine if he was our back up QB and we knew that he could start for us for that first month if Pepper isn't ready. Do you think there will be alot of interest in him and will Harrinton will be a starter somewhere?

I sure as hell hope we show some interest in Joey...or Collins, because I for one do not want to be stuck with Maddox(if we sign him) as our primary backup to Daunte in the case he is not ready to go by week 1... JMO however...

Same here, I do NOT want to be stuck with Maddox as the backup....i never liked Maddox. I'd rather much have Harrington or Collins.

I was actually kind of dissapointed that we never really looked into Aaron Brooks as our backup, but im guessing that was because of financial reasons

Yeah i like Harrington always have...

He needs somewhere to restart his career...

well right now the lions are going to hold on to him until june because thats when he is owed a huge bonus i believe. from what i read the chiefs seem the most interested. if he comes very reasonable, wouldnt mind seeing him here strictly as a backup

Draft OMAR JACOBS or BRODIE CROYLE

although I like both QB's very much, IMO Croyle will be gone in the 2nd round, Jacobs more than likely the 3rd/early 4th...Im just not sure Saban plans on spending an ealier pick on yet another QB, not to mention the fact they could not just step in and take over if needed...both need to be groomed behind a vet. before they see actual gametime...

Yeah, I know but we may trade for more picks, but I was thinking money wise.

I like both of these guys for the future, but we need someone who may be able to start on opening day. My vote is for Collins. If not him then Maddox. He hasn't done much lately, but he played great for Mularkey and led Pitt to the playoffs.

Perhaps, but if memory serves me right, they don't have to pay the roster bonus until June, so they could hang on to him trying to work a trade...I'm not sure how much he'd garner, and I don't see him as any kind of even backup for us...

what is the point in wasting a pick on a backup quarter back?

i mean culpepper if healthy will remain our starter for a long time, at least 5 years, why woud we waste a pick on a qb? we have other needs, picking up harrington for a good price is a good option imo

Joey is a great athlete and I know for a fact that someone else will go after him and give him the big bucks. He wants to be a starter. Yeah, maybe he might start if Culpepper isn't ready but it's not like he will be starting the whole season. He will end up somewhere else. We do need to get an 'ok' QB to backup Culpepper though.

Yeah, but doesn't Joey want to be a starter?

I would consider giving Detroit the last of our 7th-round picks for Harrington. Nothing above that.
