I hope our D-coordinator, Dom Capers, has the same genius for defensive strategies and tactics that they say Bellychick has. From what I've read and heard about Capers, I think he'll give the Patriots offense all they can handle this year ... definitely with our front 7.

Capers also got himself a nice, new toy to play with this year like Belichick has with Adalius Thomas. We got us the most feared linebacker in the NFL. His reign of terrorizing QBs and running backs in the AFC East is about to begin. We got us a bad azz group of linebackers this year ... no doubt about it. I can't wait for the damn season to get started just to see how our linebackers do this year. :D

Joey Porter
Outside Linebacker, DOLPHINS

Porter speaks loudly and levies the big stick. The first time Tom Brady saw him across the line, the young quarterback nearly started shaking."

Tom Brady better have their whole O-line watching his back this year. I think JT, Zach, Peezy, Channing and the rest of our guys have plans for him this year ... plans involving him being flat on his back wondering what the hell hit him. I bet Dom Capers is in "mad scientist mode" in the film room dungeon right now cooking up all sorts of devious ways to get after QBs like Tom this year. :chuckle:.

hopefully joey just does what we pay him for..to free up JT!!!

You all remember what happened the last time we had a sack threat opposite JT???? that right with adawale JT led the league in sacks! Here's to hoping we can get that!

I think O-coordinators are pretty much going to have to "pick their poison" when it comes to our front 7 guys this year. If they key on Joey, JT will certainly make 'em pay for it. If they key on JT, Joey and guys like Vonnie and Roth will get through and level the QB. Good ole Zach and Channing will handle any running plays like traps and draws just fine. Zach didn't make the most tackles in the NFL last year for no good reason. Zach's a tackling machine like the Terminator or something ... has been for years.

Our front 7 is going to be a bit_h for O-coordinators to deal with this year. Tom Brady better have some speed out of his receivers to get down field quick when they play us. Our front 7 is going to be in his face even faster this year. With guys like Yeremiah Bell coming up for safety blitzes every now and then, QBs like Tom Brady are going to have a lot to be worried about.

Thats where i am worried. Our DBs are a work in progress.

Yeah, our DBs are work in progress but, they don't have to be stellar. They have to be mechanically sound in coverage, make tackles, and not give up the big play. Our front 7 will get to the QB on most pass plays pretty quick. The offenses will have to keep in extra personnel to help protect the QB, either a TE or back. If our DB just play sound football we will be fine.

with Porter, I believe the question is NOT can Capers get the most from him .... it is what does he have in the tank

of course, eveyone is hoping for a Kevin Greene type year ....

I believe Ogun was the one who lead the league in sacks, but both of them went to the probowl.

Ever since Capers was hired as Defensive Coordinator, I stopped worrying about the defense.

We have one of the best defensive minds in football working for us. And what separates him most, he coaches to his players strengths. That's what separates the Coaching Men from the boys.

He's worth every penny.

i think he will be reborn under capers and have one of the best years he ever had! :cooldude:

I'd rather have a great front seven and average secondary than a great secondary and average front seven.

If a QB has time it won't matter if you've got Champ Bailey and Surtain as your corners. Given time any decent QB will find his man. However if you put pressure on a QB he rushes his throws and even an average secondary can look great.

don't sell Vonnie short.. he had 7 sacks and 12? hurries... the more they pay attention to the outside guys, the better the interior boys will do. We allowed 101 yards per game last year, and the average was 3.5 per... I don't know how that stacks up league wide but I wish it were less. If our offense can score more then 16.3 points per game, maybe we will see fewer rushes

imagine if our boys could pin their ears back and just COME...

Don't forget that Porter thrived in a Defense in Pittsburgh that Capers helped create.
