Aww man...talk about misleading thread titles.

I already had Oakland taking Calvin Johnson if this was true.

If it was Jerry and not Joey, I think it would totally shake up the top of the draft order. Not really sure that Oakland could bypass Calvin Johnson in that case.

Sorry for the mess up hopefully one of the Mods could fix it, but seriouslt who wouldnt want Joey opposite of JT in #-4 allingments.

If Joey Porter is available, the Dolphins would be stupid not to make him an offer. Why would the Steelers pass him up? Are they really THAT desperate for cash? Here's the opinion on Porter according to espn.com:

Porter is explosive, versatile and experienced. He excels on all three downs and in different defensive packages. He is remarkably athletic. He plays with very good bend and leverage to control the line and set the outside edge against the run. He has the active hands and strong arms to extend, separate and get off blocks. He can be violent with his hands in order to disengage. He excels at avoiding blocks, playing through trash and making plays in the box. He has good closing speed in backside pursuit and will factor into the play if unaccounted for. He is a pure edge rusher who has explosive burst and the speed to bend the edge and close on the quarterback. He keeps his hands moving to get on the edge and reduce his blocking surface. He is instinctive and has an assortment of pass-rush moves. He is fluid and fast in coverage. He has good body control and reacts quickly in man-to-man. He has some ball skills. The only legitimate knock against Porter is that he lacks ideal size.

I'll take Joey Porter. An upgrade over Spragan in all aspects. Jerry Porter not so much.

If Jerry Porter is on the market, he should be our top FA priority, right up there with Dielman. LB is one of our bigger weaknesses, and unless our line goes to crap this offseason (we may lose Traylor/Wilkinson, and I'm not sure if we re-signed Vonnie), adding Porter would make our front 7 absolutely terrifying. With JT and Joey, along with Carter if we keep him and Roth if we dont, you have 3 very legitimate pass-rush threats, something that'll give OCs fits if Capers uses them right.

Joey Porter and a corner would solidify our defense. With a defense like that, you can give yourself an extra year to develop you offense, as the D will keep you in almost every game.

He is the only guy I would actually consider giving a huge contract to. He is worth it and exactly what we need on defense.
