With his various off-field incidents, where do you think Porter falls in the "thug and hoodlum" spectrum?

I would call him a Thoodlum. But BP will give him a pass.

I don't think he's the best role model, but I do think he's a great leader in the locker room. I remember reading about how he invites the entire team over to his house for Thanksgiving. To me, those are the things that set him apart from thugs/hoodlums. He's a good guy at heart and all he really wants is to win football games. He just doesn't take any crap from anyone.

He's a thug, but because of his contract, we're stuck with him.

Shot in the [mod]PLEASE, do not circumvent the profanity filter[/mod] as an innocent bystander outside of a bar
Dogs get loose and kills a miniature horse
Gets into a fight in Las Vegas.

i'm of the opinion that he just wants to play football and win games

you forgot him calling people '******' [derogatory word for homosexuals]

No I didn't forget that. That makes him an *******, not a thug or hoodlum.
I think it makes him more of a hypocrite

Also, him saying he was going to have 'some words for Bush', when he visited the White House

While you and I disagree on a lot, I gotta respect the fact you are consistent.

Well, last year I was of the mind that we were going to be a good team and that we could take a shot on a guy like Porter. I thought that alot of his "incidents" were not his fault (being shot in the backside, dogs getting loose, etc) and that people made a big deal out of it because of his mouth, much like you and others felt about Ocho. I thought that he would add the much needed vocal leader that this team sorely needed, especially on defense and that he would settle down once he arrived.

How wrong I was.

There was the fighting in Vegas, his comments about Winslow, his "guarantees", he didn't know the playbook well into the season, he called out and berated Cameron, etc........he just doesn't get it. He became more of a distraction than an important part of the team. If we had it to do all over again, I wouldn't want the Dolphins to sign him. As it was, my first and only choice last offseason was Kris Dielman, but I supported the Porter signing.

Won't make that mistake twice

If we could harness all the energy from his mouth and convert it into harder play on the field we'd be a powerhouse. All the hot air this guy blows he could inflate the Dolphins practice bubble.

In the famous words of Cam Cameron: He's a Miami Dolphin.

And because Randy gave him a **** load of money, he will be one for the rest of his career.
