Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter has always been a player who never shy’s away from giving his opinion and letting everyone know how he feels heading into a big game.
Last season he said some things about Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall before both teams met and got to him as the Dolphins went to Invesco Field and pulled off a victory over Denver 26-17.
This season, heading into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, Porter has made it clear that his Dolphins will not allow the Saints to settle into the game like they have done so far this season leading to their 5-0 record.
“Our goal is to knock them off the high horse and try to bring them down,” Porter said on Wednesday. “They’ve been out in front of every game. They've scored a touchdown on every opening drive they’ve had.

I think Joey Porter doesn't understand the phrase "high horse", because this team is confident but focused, and not above working hard to figure every opponent out.

Otherwise, he's pretty much right in what he says. The 'phins will need to come out strong and harass Brees as often as possible. If they can get some coverage sacks and force some punts, it will be a good start for your D. Brees does worst when he's not allowed to establish a rhythm.

Lucky for us, we have a pretty decent run game now that we can lean on, as coach Payton has finally felt comfortable running the ball as often as or more often than he passes in a game. This is making things tricky for opponents, as ignoring the run will allow us to ruin your day.

If the Saints get a fast start, it will be that much more difficult to win (not impossible).

I'm not sure how your secondary looks, you have an intriguing rookie in Sean Smith (a CB I really liked coming out of the draft) but I know your safeties are not really considered coverage safeties. I expect Brees to try to throw their way a lot, with success predicated on the pressure your front 7 can get in the backfield.

Also, should you win the coin toss -- tell your captains to take the ball first!

Again, Saints fans are welcome at Finheaven. You guys have pretty much across the board have shown yourselves to be great fans. Advocates of your team that conduct themselves in a respectful fashion in another team's house. Much respect.

The bottom line is not letting the Saints get out front, which you guys excell at. I don't know why the national media is leaning for us. I think that's absurd. Our pass D is not really very good, though, if we follow last year's model, which we seem to be, that might change.

If we can control the ball, which we do, and defend the pass...Which we don't....we can win this game.

ETA; Porter's not the brightest bulb. I don't think the term "High Horse" means what he thinks it means.

I don't really care if Joey talks honestly, at least he's been something in this league and for the Dolphins, and well he has been injured. I think he will start playing up to his abilities starting this Sunday. Can't say the same about that clown Crowder. He's just garbage and still talks a lot of crap. I hate nicknames but Oscar the Grouch fits well for Channing.

I Think what Joey meant was the media and the Saints fans have that team on a pedestal and it's time for some team like the Dolphins to knock them off their lofty perch and bring them down to earth. Dolphins win a close one...27-24.

Plus we always play like madmen against unbeaten teams for some reason.

I tend to agree. Though not common for Joey, he is talking about the pedestal that the media and their fans have put them on, in a respectful way.
