I just heard on the NFL Networl Joey Porter may get suspended. I kwen it was a possibilty, but wow. the guy's been in the leauge for about ten years and never had any problems with the law that I know of. They said the has to go to New york next week for a meeting. lets hope he will just get a fine. :fire:

At worst, I'd look for a 1 game suspension and/or fine for no contest plea to a misdemeanor charge.

He has had a few minor brushes with the law in the past, but he's not considered a Pacman or Henry type problem. He may get some sort of suspension or something, but probably his biggest worry right now is the impending civil suit that Jones is considering...I'm not too sure with the 'new' policy how much of a suspension he might get. I think the days of fines from the league are over with the new sheriff in town.

What will be interesting is how the league handles the Vick fiasco...That man has dug himself a big hole....

Exactly. If you haven't already, read the SI special report on the dogfighting at Vick's property in Virginia. Some pretty gruesome stuff.

I mean I think its safe to say that anytime that anybody gets into anykind of incident or run in w/ the law . . . there is going to be speculation of a suspension. However the JP incident is no where on the level of Henry and Pacman . . . or the impending charges on Vick. JP has been fairly upfront about the incident and paid the fine . . . The most I could see is a 1 game suspension . . . but more likely the commish probably will warn him because of his fairly clean record in the NFL . . . but JP . . . and all other Dolphins need to be on their P's and Q's . . . because this commish hasn't been playing around . . . but like others have said . . . we will see the type of balls he has, and if he is the real deal, if he can punish Vick . . . it will take alot, because of his status and the revenue he brings into the league . . . but the evidence is there . . . and as w/ Pacman . . . an indictment isn't needed for him to take action.

Kind of glad we got rid of McMike now . . . this is the time of year he beats his wife isn't it? With the history behind that . . . he would be gone atleast 4 games I would think.

I read it. Twice actually. If he is convicted I hope to god the scumbag gets at least 15 years. Dogfighting couplled with gambling and Federal racketeering...Hed be going away for quite sometime. And he already lost one endorsement deal

Anyways, hope Porter just gets slapped with a fine at worst. If Goddell keeps suspending all these players pretty soon there wont be any players left to play...It would be like the movie the replacements

man he shouldnt be suspended becsuse for the simple fact he has a clean record it was sort of on the field i guess at least it s a 66 325 nfl lineman instead of a 55 135 woman

A one game suspension isnt bad for whooping up on sumone

dude enough's enough with goodell, I mean dont get me wrong, if you fight dogs, or drive drunk, assualt women and kids, shoot somebody, something really violent that u would go to jail for, then yes, suspension is in order............but we are talking 2 guys that had an arguement that got outta hand, in the court system if u had a decent lawyer and no past offenses, we are talking a year proby and some community service........this guy needs to cut it out....................and wait until he starts taking draft picks aways.......................

That was total speculation by Adam Schefter if we're talking about the same segment. Schef was being asked, after Tank who's next and he said Porter, said Porter might be invited to New York to present his case and then he went on to speculate, since the office hasn't even got to him yet. If they were meeting on Porter right now, and Schefter reports this, I'm inclined to believe he has a source, but I don't think they've even discussed him in depth yet, because they're still dealing with Tank Johnson.

Again, I believe it was total spec by Schefter.

Yeah but the only thing is that scheffter is usually pretty accurate when it comes to speculation and his stories...He was the first one I heard to say Miami may not be going Quinn when we got on the clock

Welcome to the "New" NFL finally a comissioner understands that 10,000 dollar fines are nothing for these multi-millionairs.

I like it. Finally hold these players accountable for their actions.

I gotta say, so do I even though it could hurt my Phins, but I really believe the NFL has needed this for a while now.

These NFL players have to learn they are not above the law, Joey Porter included. If any of you got into a fight outside of work that could land you in jail or court, you would likely lose your job or get a nice unpaid vacation....why should the NFL be any different?
