John BECK VS BENGALS

Beck did look good but Booker excited me! Hopefully our coach will make sure he is on the field more this season.

Beck has a quick release. And his footwork looks good. With a little more time in the pocket, he should be able to go down field more often. I just hope develops into a solid starter for us. I still feel like drafting a QB is a very big possibility.

I thought he was a much different player in his second stint starting versus the Bengals than he was the frst time starting.

he looked good. granted it was the last game of the year and down by alot but he did well hitting those short to intermediate passes. he does have a cannon. he will be the starter this year imo and he will do well now that he will have a great RB tandem and a better offensive line, eli manning took a beating his first year out, and he is now a SB champion

Beck has a strong arm and is accurate. He moves well in the pocket. He can deliver the ball and take a hit, did you see him get folded in half after delivering the ball down the middle. To avoid pressure he was in 3-step drops or in the shotgun in every clip on this. I'd like to see him with a little protection and watch him throw downfield. Give him time he will develop into a fine QB. I do believe we will draft another QB in the draft, but not untill the later rounds as a developmental guy.

Drafting a QB's not a bad idea. I just think it should wait until the 3rd or fourth round at the earliest.

Wow. You guys are impressed with that???

1) That clip was only his completions in the 2nd half of a game where he trailed by 18pts every time we had the ball.

2) Even on the completions alot of those balls werent very accurate.

3) Mostly a bunch of dump offs and nice plays by Booker. Nothing wrong with dump offs btw, as long as its the proper read, thats what youre supposed to do. But, still nothing to judge his throwing skill or so called strong, accurate, arm on.

4) The guy waits till 30 seconds left in his last game of 5, to throw his first TD pass, and its in a mop up situation and youre impressed???? I find it pretty disturbing.

Anybody including Beck can throw little 10-15 yard passes. Its funny how many times Gus Johnson says underneath in the video. On the long touchdown pass the defender got faked out and fell that was why Hagan was wide open. You can see it on the replay if you have the entire game on DVD like me.

If we do not draft Matt Ryan and it comes down to Beck and McCown I am going to hope to Shula that Beck becomes the starter. I watched the 2004 game against the Cards and Josh McCown looks awful. He has this very bad mechanical throwing motion and horrible accuracy. Also if we are not going to draft Ryan or trade for Quinn then please just draft Jake Long so that we can give Beck more time to throw and Ronnie and Ricky more room to run.

figured you would be the first negative one to bash an unproven QB, while pushing an overrated QB

I think that John Beck looked much more composed in that game than he did in the previous games. The reason in my opinion is because he got benched, and he had to deal with the worst thing (besides injury) that would happen to him in his career. He got a chance to take a step back and really concentrate on his film and see where he needs to improve, and a few weeks later bam he is right back in the game because Cleo Lemon got injured.
I saw in that film a quick release, the ability to get the ball out before the pressure arrives, composure in the pocket, and accuracy. He can do some great things when he has time to throw.

his throws look effortless, he has a great arm, and is very accurate!! can't wait to see him with the full arsonal of weapons around him.

But I bet if Matt Ryan did what Beck did against the Bengals next year with whatever team he ends up with, you'd say that he performed very well.

Have you seen the clips of Matt Ryan? He makes bad decisions, has below average footwork, good but not great arm strength. Watching beck play in decent conditions for only the second time, he still made good decisions for the throws he made. His accuracy was fine, what video were you watching? The throw in the corner of the endzone for both the TD and 2-point conversion were on the money. As for you agrument for mop up duty, well does that say about our players, well it means we have character and play hard no matter what the situation. ANYONE WHO THINKS MATT RYAN IS WORTH $50 MILLION W/ $30+ GUARANTEED, KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL!!!!
