John Beck's career

This is why I am worried:

Little blurbs from the link:

"Statistics were inflated by the Cougars wide-open attack"

"Excellent college player who is not the pro prospect his press clippings lead you to believe...Has a chance to play in the pros but he profiles as a backup or #3 signal caller at best."

And...It looks like we will have a wide open attack with a quick striking, deep threat offense so how is that a negative thing...He will basically be going from his wide open offense at BYU to a wide open offense in Miami

This is like saying LT's stats were inflated because of the offense the chargers run. Or Peyton Mannings stats are inflated because they are a good passing team. That statement makes no sense

I loved the John Beck pick...although, all along I really wanted Brohm but of course he decided not to declare this year. After calming down a bit last night I can see where I even bought into the media hype for Quinn. I honestly believe that if Levi Brown would have been there he would have been our pic but since he was not Ginn was, and we needed that offensive playmaker.

Don't pay attention to scouting reports(they are all different anyway), figure it out for yourself. Find whatever you can on him, and pay attention to the fine details of every play.

Not that he'll be as good, but, just to counter your quotes, many of those same things were said about Tom Brady, just as, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, and Ryan Leaf had heaps of praise rain down on them. Nobody knows and all you can do is evaluate and make your best judgement. So, Shey who personally tutored Quinn, gave his opinion and that opinion was that Quinn wasn't the guy for their system.

Ty Detmer had better stats at BYU and Detmer was a bust in the NFL.. A career 2nd/3rd string QB ..

Were Steve Young and Jim McMahon Bust? He had better stat's than them!

Something that seems to be a common theme in those clips is that he always hits the WR's in stride, one of the most important factors in a great QB IMO. If that translates to the NFL, then we've got someone special.

you know what, if Beck doesn't throw INTS, he'll be the best QB we've had since Marino after all.

Ty Detmer was 5'9 and couldnt throw a ball 50 yards. Beck is a lot bigger and he ran a few different offenses, while at BYU he had two different coaches and posted good stats under both. Detmer played for the same coach who ran a wide open offense.

To be fair though, Young and McMahon both could scramble and run. Beck looks like he can make all the throws and he is the most ready to start for us "RightNow" over the other prospects, he has more maturity.

Tell that to Tim Couch. Their system is not at all like the system we are putting in place since BYU uses a pass all day long type of offense and we are gonna run more of a wear you down with the run then you bite on the play action attack like in San Diego.

Also BYU played only two ranked teams and they lost one of those games.
