John Clayton - 5 small moves that could pay out big

Nice to hear about Martin. I hope he does really good for several reasons. First reason is obvious, I want him to help our team score more touchdowns. Second reason is that I want Bret Favre to have something else to whine and cry about.

We know, John, we know.

any comparisons to gates are ludacris. i'll be THRILLED if he helps move the chains on 3rd downs. mcmichael dropped too many passed to be relied upon, i'm glad he's gone.

Well if he catches on to the ball that's a 100% improvement over Randy. Not sure how he will stack up to other tight ends, but we shall see in the fall.

Its good to see some positive feedback from the Martin signing. I personally was not, maybe still not, very happy having him as a starting TE. I hope tha the exceeds my expectations 10-fold. It is kinda funny that he put the Welker signing number one as "under the radar" they gave up a 2 and 7th round pick. Doesn't seem too under the radar...I also find it funny that Moss and Darrell Jackson were both obtained for mid-rounders while welker was a 2nd rounder...

We have decent depth at the TE position so we will be fine even if he gets nicked up it the DE and OT I worry about if there is an injury. Also safty!

For all you Clayton Bashers, the guy played nose tackle on our high school football team and he was a beast! Granted he's lost a lot of weight since then as well male patterned baldness, but he was the bomb!

I'm not concerned if he doesn't come within even 15-20 catches of Randy's totals. Where I want to see the contribution is in the red zone.

If this guy can come up with 3-5 red zone TD's then it was well worth the switch.

I dont think we have decent depth, i am not thrilled with peanut brittle martin as our starter but I hope Clayton is right. After martin you have a group of Te's that are at best third stringers.

I was surprised to read that Martin was considered more of a pass catching specialist than McMichael a few months ago . . . as I thought that is exactly what McMichael was (when he was making plays).

I'm still not totally confident in Cameron's plan for our offense, but one thing is completely sure. Our offense is going to be different. We are going to use guys differently and run a wide variety of plays. If it all comes together . . . and Martin is productive . . . Ginn is utilized on a lot of designed plays . . . Chambers has a better year . . . Ronnie has success running behind our new line . . . then we could be a very dangerous football team when we have the ball.

If it doesn't, my only worry is that I am going to be wincing anytime Brady Quinn, Sidney Rice, Dwayne Jarrett, and Randy McMichael make Sportscenter.
