According to our sources in Jacksonville, the Jaguars plan to ramp up negotiations with DT John Henderson, the only coveted unrestricted free agent on the roster. Henderson, we're told, is seeking a five-year deal in the $30-$35 million range, which would place him in a similar tax bracket to fellow DTs Marcus Stroud and Shaun Rogers. Defensive coordinator Mike Smith sees the defensive line, in particular the tackles, and the middle of the defense behind them, with MLB Mike Peterson and SS Donovin Darius, as the keys to Jacksonville’s defense. If Henderson isn’t re-signed by late February, the Jaguars are said to be willing to use their franchise tag to keep him. Jacksonville had designated Darius its franchise player for the last three seasons but reached agreement on a four-year contract with Darius prior to the 2005 season.

HENDERSON NEXT FOR NEW DEAL
By Vito Stellino and Bart Hubbuch, The Times-Union

"Extending defensive tackle John Henderson's contract is expected to be high on the Jaguars' priority list during the offseason after a 28-3 loss at New England on Saturday night."

"Henderson is set to make $1.03 million this fall in the last year of his current deal. But his importance to the Jaguars and their recent track record in tying up key players likely means Henderson will have a new contract before next season."

"The Jaguars also could have plenty of room to keep their core intact with the salary cap ballooning to as much as $95 million, although complicating everything is the lack of a new collective bargaining agreement and the possibility of an uncapped year in 2007."

yeah i looked it up on nflpa.org and hes signed thru 2006.but still i want to go after whenever hes a FA.
