John McClain of the Houston Chronicle talked about Earl Mitchell and at the end of the interview they asked him about John Benton, who is our new offensive line coach, and he raved about him. Called him an outstanding coach and said the Texans made a mistake firing him. Said the players really liked him and that he will do a terrific job with the offensive line in Miami. Always interesting to hear an outside view.

Yippee-ki-yay MF. Benton should be an upgrade over Turner and will have better talent to work with. Now if the Dolphins can find an above average RT and at least another solid guard they should be ok on the line. Would also be nice to add some better depth too but you can only do so much in one off-season.

A blessing in disguise was bullygate in that we got a huge upgrade from Turner.

Maybe the Fins can "stumble on success" for once. Lord knows we are due.

Good to hear. He had good units that I always thought outplayed their talent levels. Nevertheless we need to get him 2-3 more good building blocks. Who knows, maybe he can work wonders with Sam Brenner and/or Dallas Thomas at guard. Thomas has the same pedigree Wade Smith once had before Benton got his hands on him. You never know. Thomas was incredibly weak but had enough athleticism to get drafted in the 3rd round.

Good to hear....guy has a monumental task ahead of him...

Most coaches that get fired in NFL are in reality outstanding coaches, They have worked their way up to that level and usually get more blame than they sometimes deserve. Dom Capers is an outstanding coach that we fired . It happens all over. I definitely think he is an upgrade over Turner who never seemed to make the oline better. Im sure many in the business feel he is a good coach.

was then texans o-line better than ours last year? year before?

would you say [as i do] they had better players on that line than martin, clabo, jerry, etc...?

i would.

yet, the big time texas coach got fired!!

so, not saying this guy isnt a good coach, i am saying that he had better talent in texas than we have here and was fired.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE PLAYERS!! PLAYERS MAKE COACHES LOOK REALLY GOOD!! you can't "coach up" a whole line and if you feel there is a need, time to re tool the players.

we already have a BIG TIME upgrade at lt and thats important. we have a pro bowl center [if he can keep the law at bay] and thats a real good start. but if people like clabo and and jerry are still on the line come opening day, benton isnt going to look so special and we will see the usual suspects come on the board with, "that benton guy sux!! i thought he was supposed to be so good. how come hickey hired him after the texans didnt even want him? i want ireland back, this is stupid, we had a good gm and ross ran him off".

TALENT PEOPLE, TALENT!!! and those who dont have it become scape goats.
