just listened to gruden's show here in tampa, and he said several things about the upcoming game sunday

a) he said "on paper" we're one of the best teams in the league, and if we stop the turnovers we'd be a super bowl contender

b) he expects chambers to have a big day with the defense focused on brown and ricky

c) cadillac has been upgraded to probable for this game

d) he hopes brown and ricky get pissed off at the amount of carries they're getting and start squabling midgame

thoughts? (more will come to me i'm sure)

I think he is scared of R&R...

im confused here...he is openly saying he thinks chambers will light up his own team? does anyone else find this an odd comment to make?

I listened to some of the show as well. I didn't get the hint of fear in his voice. I'm sure he's respectful of the fact that your team has 2 good backs. Monte Kiffen will be well prepared as always and his charges ready for the task at hand.
I'll be at the game and it'll be a blast to watch the running games of both teams.

ya but apparently monte kiffen wont be able to stop chris chambers? ur very own coach doesnt seem to think he can...

I think he's putting the idea into his team's head that we are not a team to be taken lightly like the Panthers did. He just wants his team focused on us. He probably thinks they should win but realizes we match up well with them. Every coach from here on out will say similar things

I dont think panthers took us lightly I just think we beat them by a good play

The thing with carries will never happen. First, Ricky knows that he's expected to come in and share time with Ronnie, and not be the man like he used to be. That opportunity left when he bounced last year. As for Ronnie, the guy is one of the more selfless players, and he will not object to splitting carries (see college career at Auburn). He knows he'll be the future of the team, and he will only get better from playing alongside Mr. Williams.

They played us after beating the Patriots. they must have looked at us like an easy win after beating New England. Maybe not but I think they took us lightly

The ol' Bobby Bowden, lower the expectations, inflate the opponent. He's got Ronde Barber who will matchup decently against Chambers. They play a Cover 2, light and speedy Defensive style. They will be hurt more by Weed and Speed. (By the way, I'm not making fun of Ricky, I could care less about his pot usage. I just think that is the best tandem nickname I've heard in a while :D).

Theres a difference between whats on paper and reality though.

I don't think Ricky wants to even be the starter. He hated getting all those carries.

I think he'd be pleased with 8-10 carries a game

Wow, a guy three years removed from winning the super bowl calling us super bowl contenders. Nice!
