This one should be some fun. Hoping that calmer heads will prevail now that the Bountygate commotion has subsided but, seriously doubt it. :)

This is a two step thread. The first is Martin ON THE FIELD as a player in 2014.

In his rookie year, Martin played 11 games ar RT, 5 at LT. He was bad on the run (-6), and gave up 6 sacks, 4 hits, and 47 hurries, bad again. He was not strong enough to play, as we all knew, but he did what he could as a 2nd round pick.

Let's compare to Lane Johnson, who played 16 games at RT. He was good on the run (+6), and gave p 10 sacks, 8 hits, and 39 hurries. He was the #4 overall pick, NFL ready, and someone everyone loved but, struggled.

Martin did spend the time, on his own, to get stronger before year #2, did improve, was still not god but, showed some promise.

Then comes Bullygate, and all the "stuff" surrounding it. He was ripped to shreds, and maybe justifiably so. That has lost most of it's impact, and now we have to figure out what to do with Jon Martin in the best interest of our team.

IF Martin is the best available option to help our OL, is there any chance or reason to keep him. Replacing 4 guys on the OL is not gonna be easy at all, and he is cheap. Does the option of what he can do, ON THE FIELD, matter or, do we just get whatever we can for him in trade as he will be a cancer IF he came back?

The fins won't get much for him in a trade. I also believe that although his presence on the team might be awkward for some of the players, they will get over it.
Therefore, Miami's goal should be to get the most value out of him as possible, and that means giving him another year to prove he can play. At a minimum he can be
an inexpensive but decent backup.

Johnson was good at one thing. Personally I wish Martin was better mentally because he had potential to be a solid RT. He sucked at LT but so did McKinie You cant bring martin back, no player had his back and they will resent him. Martin will play elsehwhere , nobody trades for him because we have no real leverage

I would trade him for a snow shovel in Miami but I bet no other team would be willing to make that trade, failing to find a trade for him I do NOT want him on the Dolphins team ever again.

Over the last week or two, the quality of your posts has really declined.

I tend to agree but, still on the fence. The only one it would be awkward for would be maybe Poucey but. I don't see anyone else. It should be interesting to see how Philbin and Ross handle this.

For me, I just want what's best for our team, and he "may be" a good option. HELL, I supported Ricky coming back after quitting on our team. That was somewhat different but, somewhat the same, and it worked out pretty well. JMO

1. Cut him
2. Never talk about him again

Done.

I agree. Not getting into the playoffs with EACH AND EVERY CHANCE TO DO SO just ripped me apart. I'll get over it, as I have for MANY A MOON.

So say we all.
