Jonathan Martin's Options for Handling Situation

The big mistake was Incognito ever being on the team. He's been in trouble on every team he's been on starting in college, except maybe Buffalo, and he wasn't there but a few months. Maybe in the future we won't sign people with questionable characters.

You mean handle the situation like an adult?

So the victim has to be the adult in the situation? Does this only pertain to being bullied or do rape victims have to be the adult in the situation? Should Lloyd have been the adult and not got in the car with Hernandez?

One person didn't act like an adult in this situation and it wasn't Martin!

I don't really think this is comparable to rape or murder and I don't think either man acted like an adult.

As a former cop who has seen first hand the devastation of rape and murder, I really find it ridiculous this constant need to equate these vile actions to alleged locker room bullying between men who get paid to, and their sole purpose for their employment is to bully other men.

If teams never took a flyer on troubled players there would be like 6 teams.

When the TV experts go down this road, it's one of the things with them that annoys me the most.

You can call it that if you want. There's a difference between BLAMING Martin for being bullied and saying that Martin did not handle their relationship like an adult. I also think that's the norm in pro sports, based on everything I know about professional locker room culture and everything I ever experienced in amateur sports. I am not singling him out for the dysfunction between him and Richie Incognito. But I think their relationship was clearly dysfunctional.

Well no, but there would be less talent in the NFL. And a lot of times, taking chances on troubled players pays off. Mike Vick has cleaned up his act and Dez Bryant has turned out to be a great investment for the Cowboys.

A lot of times these men do overcome their issues. So even if I agree that the Dolphins deserve some blame for bringing in Richie Incognito and then having him create this situation, I also think there needs to be room for second chances.

When a player has got into trouble with two or three college teams and one or two pro teams, I think his chances should have run out before he got to us.

You may be right, however IMO there aren't enough talented ppl without issues playing this violent game to populate 32 teams.
