Jonnu Smith Trade?

I recently read a rumor that we are after Kyle Pitts. If that's true, I am more than willing to move on from Smith, whose long track record says he is mediocre.

I'm not paying Jonnu 1 single extra dollar.

He's a vet journeyman who had stats with expanded targets in a down year when our top 2 WR's were in and out of the lineup all season.

Plus he's not that versatile in the run game.

Good teams have to find valuable production from players on favorable deals to make a run.

If everytime a guy demanded $14M+ after 800 yard seasons..

Play on the $4.8M this year or whatever it is or get lost.

Getting Kyle Pitts would be a next level acquisition.

This is what I don’t understand about when people say Tua excels because McDaniel simplifies the offense so much for him. If that’s true, why can’t anyone else run it?
Because they have never had a competent backup QB as to not "threaten" Tua's fragile psyche.

Thompson, Bridgewater, White, Huntley...

Clearly the direction on that finally changed this offseason because the decision makers realize that his fragility is threaten their jobs and they had no other choice..

I mean Bridgewater was widely regarded as a top backup QB - even bridge starter when they signed him. They also guaranteed him more money on a lower cap than they did Wilson. Ewers was only drafted 15 spots higher than Thompson. I'd say it's more of the same in terms of approach, hopefully with better players this time.

It's pretty clear you just want to insult Tua citing only pure speculation. Not worth replying to really so I regret clicking reply. But just wanted to objectively show you're talking nonsense.

So these are the guys, right? This year we finally got the back up QBs that will prove Tua sucks?

Not following your post? Is your point that Tua is better than the garbage, talent-less backups that the Fins have had since he's been here? If so, then I think everyone on this site would agree with that.
It's pretty simple to follow. The numbers in brackets are league wide rating. When Tua plays the offense is very, very good and when the backups are in it is very, very bad. It's really that simple.

Yeah, I'm confused as well. Maybe the backups are that bad that they can't just throw it accurately to option 1 all the time or maybe option 1 doesn't run good routes when the backups are in? Since we've been told multiple times Tua doesn't read defenses and just throws to a spot for option 1 maybe he's just way more lucky than the backups? It doesn't make sense to me either, it couldn't possible be because Tua is actually a very good QB.

Why? Serious question btw but doesn't Pitts kinda stink at blocking as well and is more like a large WR, like Jonnu? Pitts is averaging 650 yards and 2.5 TD's per season, what makes it next level other than he was drafted really high and labelled "generational" ?

As for Jonnu, I'd like the Dolphins to give him a 2 year extension that you can get out of after next year but I doubt we ever see anywhere near the same production from him as we did last season. He's a great option underneath and is insurance if the OL fails to run block again this year but he realistically will probably see about 50-60% of his targets from last year and will probably drop back to 500 yards for the season.

We shouldn't be worried about losing Jonnu as he shouldn't be the focal point of the offense. I'm betting they would love to get someone who is a much better blocker but ok in the pass game and could give you 400-500 yards per season receiving. McDaniel seems to value run blocking above everything else in his OL and TE's, it's the reason Julian Hill is still around. He expects the WR and backs to make up most of the passing yards.

Not only does it prove Tua sucks it also proves that McDaniel is a genius to have such a poor QB performing like one of the best in the league when healthy. Problem is, they also want rid of McDaniel.

🤣 your hoping on our defense this year?

Yes, though our secondary has a lot of scary question marks right now, the youth that we had that showed potential last year, has one more year under their belt, Miami still could bring in a CB that can take over for Ramsey, we seem to have a D-Coordinator that seens to show signs of a good to great one, and our front 7 might be very good this year.
