After a quiet first season and second preseason I thought Phillips really stepped up yesterday and stood out.

Looks like a starting DT to me, rushed the passer, was good v the run and his hit that forced the fumble was awesome.

Anyone else impressed?

That is the player we were expecting when they drafted him in the 2nd round.

He is a physical freak and if it comes together, could be a force next to Suh.

Yup. though the player that impressed me the most vs expectation on the dline was Jason Jones.

A lot of people were trying to write him off after his rookie season, but DT's often take a year or two (sometimes three). I'm just looking for the D to maintain that intensity and focus. If they do, everything will fall into place.

If you are playing next to that beast named Suh and you aren't flashing . . . Something is wrong. Rookie DT's can take time to "get it", but I expect a leap from a talent like Phillips next to Suh in year two. I was satisfied with his play yesterday.

It took Soliai a few years to get going. I liked the way he played yesterday. Now I want to see him doing against a better oline but it was a good start for him

I was pleased with his performance. He needs to keep on improving.

Yup.

Guys his size sometimes take a while learning how to control their weight/stay in shape and of course adjusting to the NFL.

That play was beautiful. Hopefully, we see it a lot this year.

Thought he was very good too. The play that caused the TO was beastly.

that play was simply devastating.

next step is consistency.

That Seattle line is great at run blocking, we shut that down too.

Good DL's feast on bad OL's.

That's what Miami did yesterday.

They did - as you point out. That was our strength vs their weakness going in.

Will have to see how the Dline performs over the next several weeks before any determination can be made on how good they are.

Most people get better with experience. It's kinda what people do.

That left guard was absolutely abused that play. God if only Alonso picked it up running. Would have been a touchdown and could have won us that game too
