Is the guy in Gase's doghouse now or what? Davon Godchaux was getting all the 1st team reps next to Suh and you have not heard much abut Phillips at all latey.

I hope it's a good sign regarding Godchaux. Even with Phillips, we really need a backup DT that can play the run effectively for a rotation spot.

Hopefully it is a reward for Godchaux playing well and not Phillips playing poorly. Have also heard Taylor's name mentioned for defensive stops. Maybe we can get something out of these two low round picks. That would sure be a positive!

Jordan Phillips stinks. That simple.

Out of curiosity, who doesn't suck according to you?

You seem like the boy who always cries wolf when it comes to player evaluations.

From practice reports it sounds like the 2 rookie DTs have been looking better than Phillips.

Whaaaa? Disagree... we hear more of Phillips than the other two..

What tweets or at least days of practicing are you referencing then?

I hope one of the rookies do unseat Phillips. He's had his chances and hasn't shown much.

Not true. Phillips has been inconsistent at times but it's false to say he hasn't shown much. His production has been up and down, good and bad. DT's after the early rounds always need time for development and Phillips fits that.

Now is the time to see if Godchaux or Taylor can step up. I don't have a problem in giving the rookies lots of opportunities at Training Camp. Vincent Taylor apparently looked pretty good the other day.
The idea that the second DT role belongs to Jordan Phillips should be challenged. Competition is good. I also want to see plenty of Lawrence Okoye, as well.

Bro what do you me to say? Dude was an inconsistent player in college, and has been inconsistent to bad in the pros. He goes in the game and plays next to Suh, who is quite possibly the most doubled team player in the NFL, and he can't do squat. His gap discipline as far as run support is dreadful. And he offers little to no pass rush in a scheme that relies heavily on it.

I also don't buy the narrative that it takes DT's forever and a day to develop. Tim Bowens came to Miami and was a standout day 1. Ditto for Wlfork in New England. Kawann Short went to Carolina and balled out Day 1. If you can play, you can play. I didn't like the pick from the jump, so yeah imma be critical. I expect immediate contribution from a top 50ish pick.

Thanks for proving my point. Bowens and Wilfork were both 1st round picks and I gave that caveat in post #11.

Kawaan Short "balled out day 1"? LMAO. Short didn't start a single game his rookie year, only started 9 games his second year, and totaled 5 sacks b/w the two seasons. Short didn't take off til his 3rd season.

Love Gase for this. Go with the best player. Doesn't matter where they were drafted. Phillips is a lazy MF. I had little to no confidence in him turning the corner this season, especially after we didn't sign/draft a viable starting option to compete and push him. Well, sucks for him because we might of pulled a diamond in the fifth round.

All of his yapping came about when the team was interested in Poe. Once that ship sailed, so did his newfound work ethic.
