Will Josh Rosen ever stand a chance?

The 22-year-old quarterback will begin his second season on his second team in the NFL, and it’s possible — maybe even probable — that his second team is worse than his first. Considering his first team was the worst team in the NFL in 2018, that revelation comes as a bit of a surprise.

Many worried that Rosen, who dared to be outspoken in college about a variety of things, would ruin a franchise with egotism. To the contrary, NFL franchises are ruining Rosen.

If you think he was bad behind a porous O line in Arizona, this one might be even worse.

I agree. I think unfortunately he’s drawn nothing but short straws.

The real question is what's going to come first, Rosen actually winning games since high school for the first time or the well of excuses runs dry?

That's a fair objection...as long as you weren't a Tannehill supporter all these years. His college record is about the same as Rosen's, worse if you consider they began his last year ranked #8 and finished just above .500.

I can assure you I wanted Tannehill gone years ago too and wasn't even thrilled when we ended up with him because we were in the lead for Luck until we blew it. Also I honestly didn't know as much about Tannehill that year that I did about Rosen last year in the draft because I paid less attention.

I'm not big on excuses for QBs. You can either do it or you can't. The only difference between having a good roster around you or not is that you can do it more consistently. What gets lost on a lot of people is that throwing out Rosen's season last year or inevitably throwing out his season this year because of the lack of an offensive line is just a cop out because there are going to be a lot of plays throughout the season where he's not pressured. A bad offensive line isn't going to give up pressure every single dropback. It just isn't. So in those plays where there isn't pressure, did he carve up the other team? Did he throw it accurately and to where he was supposed to? He sure didn't last year, and those are the type of things that he's getting evaluated on in the offseason by the coaching staff who doesn't seem very enthralled with him.

2 + 2 = 17. The League is not ruining him. Rosen needs to improve his skill in reading Defenses. When Flores and O'Shea think he is ready, he will become our starting QB. After that we see what he's got.
