My boy from work is out in Bakersfield CA drumming up business, and called me from a restaurant and said JP was there. He said, "Man, I want to get you an autograph but I'm just trying to build up the guts. He's with all his boys". So I told him to start with "Hey Joey, those dont look like popcorn muscles to me". Then to follow up with "How are your dogs?" (Said he got a hell of a kick out of the Brandon Marshall reference)

Well, it worked. He sends me this attached pic, and then calls me. We're talking about the situation when I hear him say "Hey Joey, Andrew's on the line for you". Next thing I hear is "What up Dru?

I am still in shock. We rapped for about 90 seconds about his 17.5 in '08, Nolan, BP, and RB.

Real quick hits on all 4 subjects, just said he liked the hire. He said, "thanks for the bigups" when I told him the 17.5 in 2008 were sick. Also said how much he respected BP and TS for creating a winning culture, where mediocrity is not accepted. Finally, said RB will be a monster next year. We'll see...

Dude that's an awesome story. Your friend must really love ya for doing that. Nice! What did Peezy think about Nolan? Did he say anything interesting? Glad you got a really good moment like that...those don't happen too often. Cool deal! :woot:

Solid friend to have, no doubt.

Peezy just said he liked the hire. I wanted to ask him a lot of other stuff, but I knew my time was ticking on that convo, so I just kept jumping from subject to subject as quick as I could. He finally said, "Aight, gonna give you back to your boy. Stay up Dru, Peace!"

Nice for him to take that time on phone with a fan.

LOL, that's cool man. After the Buffalo, game I watched Jake Long talk to his parents and Ricky talk to some random young girl behind the stadium near the busses. They both gave me a "thanks/ thanks buddy" at some point for all the stuff I was yelling.

One can say whatever one want about JP, at least he cares about us fans. He is also one of the very few (about 10% MAX) who replies to autograph requests (via mail). While all the other ones - even the 3rd stringers - are too busy.

I met Zach at a bar in lauderdale years ago after the 8 O'Clock game in Miami....coolest guy ever. I bought him a beer and he signed like 5 napkins for me. I wish I could find that napkin.

Ha! I actually grew up in Bakersfield. God know why Joey Porter continues to spend time there with all the money he must have.

Any chance you know which restaurant Joey was hanging out in? ...I always wonder where rich people go when they are in town. There's no place in Bakersfield that is so nice that a poor person can't afford it.

You can see most of it behind the napkin on the menu. It looks like the "Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery" or something

I just asked my buddy and this was response:
Tilt a Kilt….it was like a hooters but the girls wore short kilts, boobs and stomachs showing. He was eating wings and taking shots

Cool story...thanks for posting! Its been sounding like he might not be back next year.... I hope JT is the one who is resigned for a couple more years
