JT #99 Defense Player of the Year

Bailey and Urlacher have had good years too. Taylor will be mentioned and it will depend on how the rest of the year pans out. I don't like that award, it's hard to compare a lineman to a linebacker to a corner.

like ive said before, he goes unnoticed until now so he will need another monster game or finish the season VERY strong.

No one has meant more to his team or been as dominant as a defensive player then JT has for the Dolphins. He constantly gets to the quarterback and he is probably our best player in the secondary. (I'm saying he helps the pass defense big time.) He is also creating turnovers and scoring points. 7 forced fumbles and one was picked up and ran back for a TD. He also has the two big pick sixes of his own. How could he not win it?

i think bailey, taylor and urlacher all have made thier cases for mvp and all are deserving. its just a matter of who ther voters like. personally it would come down to bailey and taylor for me... n see who finishes the year better

just thought i'd say this, Taylor didn't have a recorded tackle yesterday.

No worries... IF the "D" and the "O" continue to play they currently are playing, I don't see JT missing out on this award!!! The link even said if the FINS continue and make the playoffs, JT would DEFINITELY have the edge...

well the front 4 didn't do to good in the first few games and to any1 the #1 player on that line is JT n thats what they gonna look at we havent played like we been playin the hole yr so that really might hurt things for JT

Did you catch the end of the article, when Prisco would place Julius Peppers ahead of Taylor for MVP? What is he smoking? I'm not knocking Peppers but if we compare stats, Peppers has 11 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 0 ints and 45 total tackles VS. Taylor has 9 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 2 ints and 41 total tackles (Plus 2 TDs to Pepper's 0). Pretty similar stats in tackles and sacks, but look at forced fumbles, ints and tds. In the game changing play category JT is running away with it. I like Peppers and all, but how do you place him ahead of JT?

Also, how in the hell does everyone always talk about Urlacher as MVP but never about Zach? Let's look at these stats, Urlacher 87 tackles, 0 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 ints VS Zach, 105 tackles, 3 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, 1 int. I'm not saying Zach should win the MVP award, but how do we have the discussion about Urlacher winning it when Zach Thomas has VERY similar stats. Hell, even people like Cato June and London Fletcher have similar stats.

The bottom line is that a team's players don't get these honors unless the team is above .500 and on their way to the playoffs.

I vote for Jason Taylor as NFL Defensive Player of the Year. :dolphins:

If JT doesn't get it I hope Champ can get it because he is a shutdown corner and a great tackler, I haven't seen a corner like him in a while they don't even throw the ball his way.

Urlacher has 86 Tackles 0 sacks 2INTs and 4 pass deflections.
**** they arent even better then Zachs which are
105 Tackles 3 sacks 1INT and 7 Pass Deflections.
It is just another case of media hype. His stats dont even compare to JTs

JT without a doubt deserves defensive MVP if he even comes close to duplicating the production of his first 11 games to finish the season strong. He is the most versatile defensive player in the NFL. I am just in awe watching some of the plays he makes. The best defender the Miami Dolphins have ever had, IMO. First ballot hall-of-famer if he keeps it up for a few more seasons.
