My last post got deleted, so let me re-phrase my thoughts. Some people on the board think they are part of the problem, and not the solution. I have news for the doubters, you don't play hurt if you aren't trying to win. Zach may have only had two tackles today, but the Leadership that JT and Zach provide is priceless. They will be around until they slow down, and others on this team can take on the leadership rolls. A note to the mod, sorry I called someone out on there past thread!:)

Well, I've hinted at it before and I'll say it again. I think JTs role in this new defense is terrible....and JT is not appropriate for it. He does not do a good job playing in space. JT needs to be a defensive end, period. Let Spragan play his role in the 3-4 schemes.

...now I will await everyone telling me how wrong I am because I question JT being bad at something

I agree with you. JT needs to just go after the QB.

JT would be amazing If he could play the OLB spot, but right now he is getting adjusted to it and not performing as well as he can. I prefer the 4-3 and I like him better there, but with a few more games under his belt, lets see how he does.

Bro youa re entilted to your opinion, and I respect that. We had a brother who I won't name, but he knows who he is. Within in the past week he said JT, and Zach were negatives to the team. I agree with you, JT needs to get the push of the end spot to be effective, and create problems.

Zach wasn't really needed today as Deuce McAllister is out and they did not have much of a running game...it was nice to see our D get those sacks.

Wow, seems like some people may be seeing what I was speaking of before. Good to see others coming around. I in no way think Z or JT are negatives. But from a football standpoint JT needs to play DE. More evidence for my viewpoint today was watching JT constantly get stuffed when he tried to blitz fancy from his 3-4 role, the open field 1-1 tackle he whiffed on in the flat, and the 5 or 6th illegal contact penalty he has had this year when trying to guard WIDE RECEIVERS!! He is a heck of an athlete, but JT should not be on WRs.

Agreed bro! I just enjoy to watch JT and Zach play ball for the Dolphins,a nd for a member of the family to call them negative influeneces on the field, just set me off! I mentioned the member's name in my original thread, which I shouldn't have done.

Wasn't able to watch the game like some of you lucky people, had to listen to it. but listening to the post game lockeroom report, they interviewd Traylor and asked him how he was able to blow up this one play. Traylor gave ZT all the credit for calling the right play. That's what Zach does. If he's not making plays, he's making plays.

I would give these guys more than 1/2 a year before deciding how well they play in this defense

If you're referring to ZT and JT, they are doing fine!

Totally agree bro. Not only does JT not play as well in space but by moving him away from the line of scrimmage more frequently we: A) take him away from what he does best, rush the passer and B) Take away his biggest advantages when he does rush the passer which are his initial burst off the ball and the quickness with which he exexcutes that 1st move. Moving Jt off the line has been a total bust of an idea.

JT's stat comparison last year to this year.

All stats mentioned for this year are projected totals based on his performance so far

Sacks - this year 7.8 sack, Last year 9.5
Tackles - This year 54 (would be a career high), last year 40 tackles
Assists - This year 32 (would be a career high), last year 27
Forced Fumbles - This year 5, last year 2

Miami is 13th in the league with 15 sacks so far this year. We are on pace for 39 sacks for the season. Last year we had 36 sacks.
-------------------------------------------------

Jt has only 8 games in a new position in a new system.

I think the defensive number in general will pickup as the players become more comfortable in the systems. Well I hope at least anyway.

I dont recall JT getting beat in pass coverage much. So if he does drop back maybe he is doing a good job of it.

EDIT: I haven't noticed JT getting called for all those illegal contacts down field. Honestly all the penalties were running together in my mind due to the shear mass of them.
