Was just thinking to myself, that the JT media madness might just be a good thing for the development of the QB merry-go-round.

If there was no JT in the media...the microscope would be focused heavily on the three Miami QB's,creating controversy, etc...two of which are much better off without that kind of added pressure being so new to the NFL, and the third can focus on his job much easier too.

So...I'm thinking that there are some side benefits out of all that mess.

Our qb situation is so sorry that it doesn't deserve a second look. In the past we have had proven veterans or players with previous success experience but past the prime of their career; nevertheless, our qb situation right now is still the worst in the league because of the guys who are available. We have a rookie qb, a sophomore qb that the coaching staff has no hopes for and a washed up veteran who has visited more teams that he has played games in the last 2 seasons.

Im not sure I would say our situation is the worst in the league. It may have more question marks then most team, but worst in the league is little over the top. I respect your "evaluation" but I see our situation as:

1 veteran with limited success that at times plays well and at times plays terribly.

2 second year player that the staff is still evaluating but I think they have high hopes for.

3 rookie with alot of upside but still a rookie.

I am optimistic that Beck will start and show tremendous improvement over last year, just by having better talent around him then when he was thrust into starting. Just my opinion.

How is it that everybody is so sure that the Trifecta has given up on Beck? Him taking First Team snaps sure is the way to show that they have given up on him. :err: The worst QB situation in the NFL?? I know that the Falcons drafted Ryan, but are you so sure that he is the answer at QB? The Bucs have 22 QB's on their roster because they are so sure of all that talent, right. The Raiders, Russell showed everyone so much last year. The Bears?? I have a hard time saying it is the worst in th NFL.

That being said, the JT situation may take some of the national exposure off of the qb competition, but the fans and local media will still be talkin about it. Personally, I say lets just trade him, get rid of that circus and move on with the players we have that want to practice and win. This way it wont be any distraction.

QB situation in Miami could end up worst in the league. Then again, it could end up better than that. Who knows. It's certainly among the riskiest QB positions in the NFL because so much depends on either the progress of a second year guy that didn't show much in his rookie year, or a true blue rookie.

I don't admire the Jets' situation. Kellen Clemens definitely should have been able to show more in his second year than he did in 2007. If at the end of 2008, the best Beck has done is achieve a 69 QB rating with twice as many INTs as TDs...then my confidence in him will take a SERIOUS hit. You don't close the book on a guy like that, mind you...but you start to put your hopes elsewhere and if that's all Beck does in 2007 we'll be awfully glad we drafted Henne in the second round of the 2008 Draft. Just to clarify, I'm saying that right now I'm very confident in Beck, but if he flops his way through 2008 like Clemens flopped his way through 2007, I won't be that confident in him at all...unless the reason he had a low QB rating was because he had some bad performances early in the year, but he turned it around with a string of good performances late in the year.

I won't go so far as to say that anyone who thinks the front office have given up on Beck is misguided, but they're not correct, either.

I like that you are keeping it positive...that is one heck of a spin job.

also the JT **** is keeping the spotlight off ricky, which is probably a good thing as well :)

well,i damn sure wouldn't say the FO has no hopes for Beck...the fact that he's been working his *** off all off season to improve every aspect of his game, and that he's been taking snaps with the First Team offense does show that the FO has hopes for him IMO.

You have got to be kidding me.

What about the 49ers??? They have Alex Smith, Shaun King and JT O' Sullivan competing for a job.

What about the Ravens??? They have Joe Flacco, Troy Smith and Kyle Boller competing for a job.

I don;t know about you, but those 2 teams alone make me feel good about our QB situation right now.

I'll buy that the Ravens have a QB situation as bad as ours and I'd add that the Jets aren't really any better off with their QB situation than we are.

However, Shaun HILL (not King, King is the guy you see on ESPN nowadays wearing a bow tie, lol) looked pretty damn good at times last year and Alex Smith may be on his way to the trash heap but for some reason Mike Martz likes him and I'd take a QB that Mike Martz likes, completely breaks down, and then builds back up...over most of what we have...just about any day. For instance, I would not necessarily take a Martz-less Jon Kitna over what we have. But, with Martz around, I'd actually take Jon Kitna over what we have for 2008.

Really, again with the Jets, Kellen Clemens just did not show near enough in 2008 and that puts them in a very difficult position.
