Jujuan James

It was a penalty. The play was over and James wiped out a defender just standing near the pile. If the opponent did that to a Dolphin we would want the flag.

When I saw the play I didn't think it was a penalty - seemed like the whistle wa a bit late.

Thought the whistle was late and the way the game was going players were fighting for and actually getting extra yards, particularly Ajayi.

So are we tell players to play until the whistle or not? I'm with James.

Within reason. You can't just blast a defenseless player who's just standing there with his back to you while the ball carrier is on the ground. There was no need for the play and if someone took that shot at Cam Wake and he ended up injured we would all scream bloody murder. We can't say it's wrong if the opponent does it but it's ok if a Dolphin does.

It was a penalty, although that's the kind of thing that happens a lot and isn't called all the time.

James has been one of the bright spots on offense, so I can forgive one bonehead penalty. Just don't make it a habit.

Just rewatched the play a few times. Landry is down, the db in question is bent over Landry trying to strip the ball when James comes in and blast him from behind. It was a hit that wasn't warranted and a penalty in my book, plus even if you want to argue that the play was still active it's still a clear personal foul block in the back.
