Julius Thomas is expected to require surgery on his broken hand, and will be sidelined 4-5 weeks.

He can safely be ruled out for Weeks 1-3, and is highly questionable for Week 4. Considering Thomas' injury history, it's not a guarantee he'll be back for Week 5. It's a major concern for the Jags' entire offense, as Thomas' presence won't be commanding attention in the red zone as Blake Bortles looks to build on his big summer. Clay Harbor is the next man up at tight end.

Bortles looks much improved this offseason, so its certainly an advantage for Miami that he will be missing his biggest red zone target. Bummer for the Jags losing their prize FA for the first four games..

They're saying he's seeking a 2nd opinion but what a break. Easily the biggest mismatch we were gonna face in that game, with our linebackers/undersized DBs. Anything other than 2-0 to start the year would be extremely disappointing

And then we get Tyrod Taylor for the home opener. Kid has looked good in preseason but I think there will be growing pains, hopefully we can rattle him early. Would be GREAT to start 3-0 going into Week 4 at home vs the Jets.

Don't get me wrong, Buffalo is no gimme game and scares me more than NY. I am just hoping we can take advantage of the new QB.

If we go 2-0 there is no way we beat the Bills. For one, it's the Bills, and with Tannehill and Philbin we royally suck against them. Two, Philbin's teams can't handle success, and a guy like Tyrod Taylor is exactly the type of player who will beat the Dolphins. We know it will be a close game, it always is, and in that case it only takes a big play or two to swing the game one direction. That was how it went when we faced Thad Lewis and EJ Manuel.

Jags are snake bitten ever since that 62-7 win against the Dolphins in the playoffs in 1999. Their 15-2 record evaporated the next week in the AFC Championship game against the Titans and they have never been back. They only have 1 playoff win since that victory against our beloved Dolphins.
Their new additions are dropping left and right. Karma is a bitch.

That being said we struggled offensively against that defense last year. We need to play a lot better this year offensively against them. They missed a few plays that could have changed that game. I don't expect them to play that poorly this year despite the losses. Need to make sure they are not in it from the start and jump on top offensively like we have been doing in the preseason.

Bortles looked dangerous in the preseason. The guy is starting to get a feel for the game and any QB who has that is capable of mounting the drive needed. Look at what Bridgewater did against us last year, we may not escape like then.

I disagree. As long as we don't turn it over and try to do too much, we win our home opener. (But I've been wrong before:crazy:)

The past is the past, stop clinging. Many things have changed. It's a new season.

Cousins, Bortles and Friggin Tyrod Taylor??????????????????????????

Dear Miami fans, the absolute expectation is we start 3-0

Sucks for my fantasy team...sucks even more that I picked up Jordan Reed for my Week 1 TE. I will take a fantasy loss for a Fins win any day (especially if I'll be at the game!)

Some breaks with injuries the first few weeks, need to take advantage. Buffalo will be a TOUGH game for sure as well. Especially with Rex Ryan and that D. No gimme games except maybe Washington

If you don't believe that people are capable of change, or learning from their mistakes and improving on them, then why the hell are you even here? If you are so certain that future results are always going to be the same the past, then there is really no point to you following the Dolphins, ever. So, buh-bye now.
