I have noticed of late some weird trends here. Those trends being 'positive' towards what Miami has done of late.

All of a sudden, Ross is doing a good job. He fired Sparano. Good job. He tried to sign a big name coach. Good effort but unsuccessful. Wether it turns out in a positive or negative, time will tell. He signs and 'older experienced' coach, not necessarily a younger verion of Don Shula, but Philbin comes with a lot of positive vibes and has rejuvenated the fan base to a level not seen in 3 or 4 years at least. Good job. Might put bums on seats. Good job.

He talks about upgrading the qb position, which send the fanbase into head spins....Manning/Brees/RGJ/Flynn. Generally all positives. Good job. He talks about upgrading the offence and having a more exciting attcking style of play. Good job.

Now the draft & FA will show just what he brings to the table without influence from the Tuna. Depends on what happens in FA as to the direction we take in the draft. I am sure the coach will have a lot of influence in the selection of qb - be it who ever, but Moore needs competition and thats not a bad thing.

Now the coach is looking at who will be the best oc/dc. Some positive names creep up. Sherman/Zimmer/Coyle etc. All pretty good names that could possibly spark the team a bit more. The fan base is happy.

A good draft - a pass rushing OLB opposite Wake would be a great start. Or a number 1 WR opposite BM would also be a bonus. O Line help/ TE help. It goes on. But Coples, Upshaw, Feener, Floyd, Jeffery wouldnt be a bad start to the draft. Not selecting a QB because I think we get Flynn.

BUT ......

In one post, about Manning coming here, someone stated that he is still reletively young at 36 and we may get 1 or 2 more years out of him. Is that what the fan base want. A SMALL CHANCE that Manning may be OK for another year or two? Is it really worth the risk? To me, he is like Chad Hennington after his latest injuries. 90% of the fanbase knew they wanted him back, but probably only 10% thought he could come back. Manning is in that area with my thought. Culpepper came in, did sfa (not saying they are in the same skill set league) but its the same theory. Big career threatening injuries, but because it's Manning, many will accept him even with his injuries. One more thing. The way our medical staff have worked on injuries, they have caused more issues that the actual injuries themselves. If Manning gets diagnosed by our medical staff, and cleared, he may play 4 games & retire. Just a thought.

Now, Manning is all of a sudden young at 36. 2 years left. Superbowl contenders the fans say. If Miami mortgages the house, wife & kids for this deal, I think it would backfire completely. We need to get a starter for 5-8 years at least. At the moment, the only two that could possibly fill this spot & be generally healthy & young whislt going this route, are Moore, Flynn and a top 3 pick from the draft. Say Tannehil for example. Not sure of there ages but all about mid to late 20;s, & if one or two of then produce a career that lasts 7 years in miami, then that is a positive. To get 7 yeras out of Manning will be impossible. Manning would be a poor choice IMO.

Now, the co-ordinators that we missed out on.

Chud....if he was that good, wouldn't he have been signed now by someone. Prior to the recent coach signings in the past few days, but surely the Bucs/Raiders/Rams would have been climbing over themselves to get to him. didn;t happen. Still an assisitant I believe. Where has the hype gone? Same with McCoy or Bowles. Wheer are they? Who snapped them up as world beaters? It does seem that these coaches may not have been as hot as the fan base thought.

At the end of the day, Miami is all we really care about, and its what they do that really affects us as fans. I am hopeful of a good offseason, above average FA - Flynn at QB, Grubbs at OLine, and an attacking middle line backer would be nice and a fast & reliable WR. The draft our first pic I would like to see either Upshaw or Coples. Just my thought.

I like the way the FO is progressing, the work they are doing. So much more positive that the past 3 or 4 years, so lets give then the benefits of time to get the job done. Just let the guys do there job. They are the ones who speak to & evaluate the mannings, Flynns, Grubbs, of the pro footy world. Give them a bit of time to work the FA & Draft. See what happens with what we end up with,

More positives than negatives.

It's all groupthink perception.

Look at Paterno.....Saint Joe to child molester protecter to Saint Joe again..All in a three or four month time span.

The truth is Paterno is still a Chomo protector and Ross still sucks.

lol at young Manning. Its similar to what has been going on the past few weeks throwing around names like Manning, Weeden, RGIII and Flynn. People want young 36 yo Manning but dont want to take a chance on Weeden at 28. LIkewise, some people dont want to sign Flynn because he only started 2 games and has no starting NFL experience, yet those same people want to trade up for RGIII. its all relative, i guess.

If we get the Cinci hotshot to run the D, offensive record breaking Mike Sherman to run the O and a HC choice that at first blush looks a helluva lot better than a career run first coach with less than a mediocre record and control issues, a Rutgers college coach, plus 2 DC one year wonders..... not to mention offloading 2 meatballs to undermine our most serious competitor for a WC card next season, Ross has done just fine in my book.

IMHO...it's the proverbial.....What have you done for me lately mentality.
