Lets just say for instance you were the owner of a multi-million dollar results oriented company.

You hired somebody to lead or manage your product to obtain superior results on 16 different occassions on a weekly basis. Imagine that he only achieved success once during the first 7 weeks, and that was just barely....

What would you do?

P.S. Hopefully you can follow the question, having read this a couple times...I have a hard time following it myself.... be thankful I am not the owner:sidelol:

I would ask him if there is anything I could do to help him achieve the results he wants.IMO Wayne will do the same if he interferes in any way at all.

Saban has a 5 yr contract.IMO I expect Wayne will respect that contract. He knows that success cannot be achieved overnight and he will give Saban every chance to achieve that success.

If it was me I would want to make sure he has all the tools to make things happen. If I know he has that there shouldnt be any reason for not having success.

We brought him in to do a job and thats what is expected. But in the same aspect, I as a owner understand that changed dosent happen over night so make that known, progress is what we are looking for in this organization.

WOW! over the past number of weeks I have been amazed at the level of impatience that dolphin fans have. The man is on his second year and in reality it might as well be his first year.

Considering last year was more about evaluating the team and trying to figure out what needs work (all within the scope of million dollar contracts, salary cap, political company BS etc..). He only had a few months when he was hired to try and figure out what to do with the first draft.. ontop of being new to being a NFL coach.

I have fired my fair share of employees in my life and I can say without a doubt if my decision making was half as impatient as some of our fans I would have ended up letting go of some really good people.

I think its all about being part of the MTV generation.. fast pace result orriented society that wants everything NOW!

I used to teach at a local univeristy.. one of the reasons I no longer teach is because many of our students maintained the attitude of "I paid X dollars for this degree so I deserve it NOW" they refuse to put in the time to actually WORK for their education rather they feel that they paid for the right to have that piece of paper.

My point is. like a fine wine some things simply take time to mature. The ability to build leadership, trust and morale with the team is going to take TIME.. and were not talking weeks or months.. it takes a number of years. Some players will adjust while others will not. We will see over the next few years just exactly who those players are.

I know many people want to compare levels of success with other coaches and teams but the comparisons are not fair. The fact is each organization has unique strengths and weaknesses and to compare one to the other just does not work..

Its really frustrating to see how poorly our team is playing right now.. but just remember this.. it can only get better from this point :) I mean we have only won 1 friggen game so far.. I think its better to readjust expectations until the team starts demonstrating that they are ready to go to the next level. (which could be in a year or could be in 3 years) but no matter what at the end of the day I will always be a supporting fan.

I would sit him down and talk to him. Find out what the long term plans are and how he plans on turning this thing around. If I agreed with his plan, I'd ask when he plans to show improvement on a consistent basis. Then I would support him and let him know that I backed him so that he wouldn't have to worry about losing his job. I'd tell him not to listen to the media crap and not to visit "fan" forums, but I think he already would know that much.

I would draft some offensive linemen.

What you want to see as an owner is results == progress ....

SABAN produced progress last year .... his moves this year didn't necessarily work out ... [thus far either QB or OL] ...

Also as the owner, you understand the constraints of the company, meaning salary CAP, and manuever room.

What last year did was bring in false hopes WRT the potential success for this year. With the QB and OL 'improvements' ... it was reasonable to project an improvement over last year. Thus far, CULPEPPER, HARRINGTON, ANDERSON and SHELTON have NOT brought success along with them. One could argue about the coaching staff additions as well.

BOTTOM LINE is that almost NO owner would cut sling on SABAN at this time or during the offseason .... BUT if the ship isn't corrected NEXT year -- it might warrant a hard look .... BECAUSE that would mean 2 straight years of POOR personnel decisions. Everyone gets a pass on bad decisions ... but a pattern of bad decisions gets NO sympathy.
