old news just announced on espn that ferrote will start week one

The funny thing is we traded a 2nd round pick for AJ Feeley and he is 3rd on depth chart behind Sage. That tells you how crazy Wanny and the FO were :shakeno: . Now we have Gus neck breaker starting.

This is crazy why didnt we just cut him and work with Berlin? Saban is making a stand sticking him 3rd Wanny would have him starting. A 2nd rounder for a 3rd string qb. :shakeno:

I was thinking the same thing, to tell the truth.

wow ive gotta be honest, but i really dislike some things that Saban has done. First off, he goes on and on about getting YOUNG players......then he signs Vonnie, Carter, Traylor ALL of whom are old. He also expresses the need for an offensive line, yet he doesnt draft or sign any decent offensive lineman. He expresses a need at CB, S, and DT......yet he doesnt sign any decent players at CB, S...at DT he signed 3 OLD guys, we see now that Antaj Hawthorne is a Free Agent, why dont we sign him? Why didnt we sign Corey Simon? Ty Law? Junior Rosegreen? Ernest Shazor? All these guys who can make it, and he is instead......signing guys like McGill, Kris Richard, John Owens......guys who wont do crap. He expresses the need for a QB, and cuts Brock Berlin who showed potential, and keeps AJ Feeley as a 3rd stringer. (embarassing for AJ). AJ is done, its time to cut him and sign someone like Jon Kitna, Tim Couch. Instead of drafting a NEED in our draft like Travis Johnson at DT, Khalif Barnes at Tackle, he instead drafts a Runningback when we already have 4 of them. I mean i think Miami will be a better team, but still......i tend to think that Saban relies on COACHING. He hired one of the best offensive coordinators, and one of the best Offensive line coaches. He also got rid of one of the best defensive coordinators (Jim Bates) and signed...Dan Quinn??? a guy who was a Detroit Lions defense coach.....thats just as bad as signing a defensive coach from Arizona......why would u want him?? He seems to think that playing well is about the coaching, not about the players. Hmm.....any ideas???

Well I dont agree with Saban cutting Brock. I do see what Saban is trying to do. He is trying the BB and Pats philosophy great coaching and decent players buying into his system. Saban has got rid of the ones that didnt buy into it now all he has got to do is teach more to the ones that want to learn.

I feel you 34 but let's see how we do against Denver when the games count.

Doesn't sound like a bad philosophy to me. I mean NE has won 3 out of the last 4 Super Bowls.

well, at the time of the draft, we didn't know about rickey so we went best player and i agree with that. i would've liked to trade down, but there didn't seem to be any takers.

the pick of roth in the 2nd bothered me since i would've far preferred ol or db. nothing personal against matt.

law and simon were out of our price range. its why we had to give up pat as well. i would love those guys but its unrealistic.

the shazors and rosegreen type guys are being cut for a reason. not sure they would really be an upgrade.

saban has been going for system type guys, ala the pats, and i feel like he knows his stuff when it comes to d. i do admit i would feel alot better if we had 1 more decent corner.

personally, i thought berlin was bad in college and i don't view him as an nfl talent. aj is a waste at #3. i'm certainly not opposed to moving in a new direction if saban is convinced he doesn't have what it takes.

as for saban and bates, the run different schemes and it was in everyone's best interest to part ways. i question how jim's d will be in green bay were they clearly lack the kind of talent we had.

I'm not impressed either with what has happened yet, yeah, starting at the draft. It might just be all a matter of opinion but I thought the best move would have been taken B. Edwards and hold the Browns feet over the fire, tell them if they wanted Edwards it would cost them R. Brown (if you so chose) and another pick or two. You only have to go back to last year and the Manning/Rivers deal which worked out the same for the Chargers. Saban blew that IMO. In addition, I don't think taking a RB that split time during a 12 (or so) game season was the the best pick. Everyone is on the Brown wagon now, don't get me wrong I want nothing but good things for the Fins, but 1st round RB's bust all the time and until I see him prove something I will be the sceptic.

As much as it hurts to think this way I'm numb about our QB situation. We can talk all we want and ***** all we want but until the fins keep the opponents defense from looking like a jail break getting to our QB EVERY FRIGGING play whoever is at QB is almost irrelevant. Saban hasn't done a thing to fix the line-play and who of us didn't recognize the #1 problem with the fins was the O-lne? I venture to say to a man we all knew that was the "wheel that needed the greese".

I do say what the heck, bring in Davey, bring in Couch, bring in anyone for a test run. What can it hurt?
