Looking forward to the 2008 and 2009 season cause 07 is a wash already. Man this sucks.

I think its going to depened on the type of system brought in here. I mean if they bring in something like the WCO then its going to take a while, but as long as its not too difficult I think we'll be ok.

Has it ever occured to you that the head coach's new scheme may actually fit the personnel on the team? He may try to fit the scheme to the players instead of the players trying to fit the scheme.

You're assumptions are flawed, but I have no problem looking forward to 2008 and 2009, provided we take the proper path to get there.

First year coaches can win....(see S. Payton, E. Mangini).

Second, this team needs to be rebuilt.

If I were GM, my first order of business would be trading C. Chambers. I think he would look great in GB or SD, or even Chicago. I'd think he could get us some picks.

I'd also look to move McMichael. With these picks, we could then get much younger on the defensive side of the ball.

I'd then try to identify a QB to build the franchise around. If he can't be drafted or signed via FA, get a caretaker (ala Gus Frerotte) or someone who can run the offense.

If we do rebuild, then I am all for looking forward to 2008 and 2009.

With Saban as coach, those years were hopeless for us.

haha, i love how people give up on next years season, before the offseason even starts.

The whole system thing is overrated, look at the Jets, look at the Saints, even the Bills and Houton. So if you already lost hope then tuck yourself in and we will see you again in 2008.:D :D

If the new coach keep Capers, then we'll at least have consistency on the defensive side of the ball. ONe of the reasons I hope we bring in an offensive oriented coach. The defense works pretty well, so hopefully whoever the new coach is, he won't tinker with it much. Then It'd only be a new offense

:chuckle:
You might want to consider changing your sig.

Upgrade the offensive line and get Daunte back healthy, and you'll see an offense completely transformed overnight. Even moreso if you get an offensive coordinator who will play to Daunte's strength (IE the deep passing game.) If that happens we'll be next year's Saints.

WAY too much is put into the "learning a new scheme" thing. I've said this a thousand times. The only thing players have to learn is terminology. The holes don't change, the positions don't change, the patterns the recievers run don't change, the way a QB throws the pass doesn't change, RBs still break tackles the same. ETC....ETC...ETC...

Nothing about football changes. AGAIN, the only thing that changes is terminology. Football is football. The players will have no problem running anything unless they change the playbook to a foreign language.

What I'm concerned about is getting rid a Mularkey and getting someone in here that is competent enough to call a balanced game that keeps the defenses guessing, plays to our teams strengths and attacks the defenses weaknesses, and is aggressive in it's approach.
