I admit, I sat in front of the television this morning 100% sure that the phins would draft Quinn. I was praying that Quinn would fall and when he did I was ecstatic. When we picked Ginn I was mystified. After watching the rest of the draft I had realized what happened.
Ted Ginn Jr./Brady Quinn
The phins are in DESPERATE need of an offensive playmaker. Ted Ginn is lightning fast and can help us as a reciever and a returner. People said Steve Smith was too small and didn't like to go over the middle, that's why he dropped to the third round. Cam recognized this, and he probably thought that either he could get similar Quinn value in the second round, or he didn't think too much of Quinn to begin with.
John Beck is a QB I don't know much about, but I trust a coach who turned Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees into stars over my judgement based mostly on ESPN hype.
Third pick, we needed O-line help, and we got it.
Lorenzo Booker is extremely quick and versatile. He looks to be a stud. No, he isn't replacing Ronnie, but the more backs the merrier.
Point being, overall I loved the draft. Cam said this was a team that would be focused on winning now, not rebuilding. By drafting all offense on day one, he sends a clear message that he wants to take care of the problem of our crappy offense. The Joey Porter signing also shows that he wants to win now. I don't know about you guys, but I am not ready to draft Brady Quinn and wait for three or four years to see if he pans out. (Eli Manning, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller). If Daunte can play, he will and with the offensive help he's getting I don't see why he can't win. If he isn't healthy, we got John Beck, I say throw him to the wolves or make Trent Green the starter and tutor him.
Love the draft. B+ Overall.
