I admit, I sat in front of the television this morning 100% sure that the phins would draft Quinn. I was praying that Quinn would fall and when he did I was ecstatic. When we picked Ginn I was mystified. After watching the rest of the draft I had realized what happened.

Ted Ginn Jr./Brady Quinn
The phins are in DESPERATE need of an offensive playmaker. Ted Ginn is lightning fast and can help us as a reciever and a returner. People said Steve Smith was too small and didn't like to go over the middle, that's why he dropped to the third round. Cam recognized this, and he probably thought that either he could get similar Quinn value in the second round, or he didn't think too much of Quinn to begin with.

John Beck is a QB I don't know much about, but I trust a coach who turned Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees into stars over my judgement based mostly on ESPN hype.

Third pick, we needed O-line help, and we got it.

Lorenzo Booker is extremely quick and versatile. He looks to be a stud. No, he isn't replacing Ronnie, but the more backs the merrier.

Point being, overall I loved the draft. Cam said this was a team that would be focused on winning now, not rebuilding. By drafting all offense on day one, he sends a clear message that he wants to take care of the problem of our crappy offense. The Joey Porter signing also shows that he wants to win now. I don't know about you guys, but I am not ready to draft Brady Quinn and wait for three or four years to see if he pans out. (Eli Manning, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller). If Daunte can play, he will and with the offensive help he's getting I don't see why he can't win. If he isn't healthy, we got John Beck, I say throw him to the wolves or make Trent Green the starter and tutor him.

Love the draft. B+ Overall.

you know you really could be right and now that i have calmed down i think beck over quinn could be better for us and olinemen can be picked up after the draft , although i was hoping for another stud wr and a te like ben patrick . the point is we wont know anything until summer practice begins.

Ginn was a reach, there were better players available at #9. I liked round 2 and 3.

Grade: C

Whos Gonna Pass The Ball To Ginn? Beck?

I'll be honest. I go to Florida State University. I'm a junior and I have watched Booker (and Leon Washington) play for 3 years. Lorenzo Booker isn't a stud. He's a solid player with a good skill set, but he's not a good running back. This may be something that can be corrected with coaching, and lord knows FSU was lacking in that over the last three years, but Booker doesn't live up to potential.

For one thing he dances. He ran behind bad O-lines, yes, but Leon Washington did too and he managed to be productive because he just hit the hole and ran. Booker is too enamored with his athleticism and he relies on it too much, this didn't work except for against lesser opponents in college and it's going to work even less in the pros.

Also for as talented as Booker is, a lot of times he just doesn't make the play. He's dropped big passes and not hit huge holes before and it defies explanation. I like Lorenzo, but don't kid yourself into think he's a stud. He's the new Travis Minor. Same school. Same back. Same number. Booker has more speed but he's never been able to become that stud back. He was actually more highly sought after than Reggie Bush out of high school. I think he has the potential to be absolutely incredible, but I don't think he'll reach that without great coaching.
