I have no freakin idea what EXACTLY it is about this guy, but for some reason I think this guy is gonna be a freakin MONSTER in the pros. I think this guy could very possibly be the next Larry Allen, maybe not QUITE as good Larry, but pretty darn close, and considering Larry Allen is the best to have ever played the position, falling "just short" of his greatness isn't exactly an outcome that many would find disappointing. I am REALLY hoping Miami picks this guy up, which is something I rarely say about players I don't have "extensive" knowledge of, he is just one of those guys I "have a feeling" about. I had a feeling about Drew Brees (like everyone else in the world minus Dave "not even smart enough for the special olympics" Wannstedt (please don't ban me for that remark, even my half brother who has cerebral palsy found that to be a funny and fitting nickname for him) and Shawn Andrews (I was f****** p***** when philly traded up to get him!! They didn't even NEED O-linemen!!) Luckily, Carey is comin around to be a pretty pleasant surprise. About every 2-3 years I can pick out just one guy, someone that many underestimate ( and even though shawn andrews went like 13th in the draft (thanks philly :tantrum:), for quite a long while many expected him to fall to us at the 20th pick, I'm pretty sure he'd a made the pro bowl his rookie year if he didn't break his leg). Anyway, Justin Blalock is my official surprise pick this year (he is a projected early-mid 2nd rounder on most sights, but is well worth a top 2-3 pick IMO), guess we'll know how this forecast turned out in a couple years. What are all your thoughts on JB?

Well, I'm a diehard Longhorn fan, so I've seen plenty of him, and I like him. I think sometimes his footwork lacks though, and causes him to get beat, but that can be worked on in the pros. Other than that he is a big strong dude and I agree he is going to be good in the NFL. Not sure about the next Larry Allen, but if we can nab him (maybe he drops to us a #40) and he turns out to be, yay for us

I love the guy. He reminds me of the entire Chiefs offensive line. I see a little Brian Waters in him, a little Will Shields, and a little Willie Roaf. He has the potential to be a freaking nasty force in the NFL. I think he'll be a 1st round pick, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by 20.

I'd be terribly surprised. Blalock is not on Hutchinson's level and that guy is the only pure guard to have gone that high. Sorry I don't view Blalock as a top right tackle.

I do however like him tremendously and think he'd be an excellent pick anywhere from 29-35.

Oh I don't view him as a top RT either bro, OG is where I see this guy being a mother f****** force to be reckoned with once he is actually taught proper technique (something a guy with initials HH, just MIGHT know a thing or 2 about) cuz this guy certainly isn't lacking athletic ability, and he seems to have the perfect amount of meanness/ toughness you love to have in an O-lineman. This guy is Hudson Houck's wet dream come true, and I pray we get him!! He is a "can't miss" pick IMO.

He's legit. Unlike Max-Jean Gilles and Elton Brown he got in shape, if we get him Ronnie Brown will be jumping for joy.

Blalock is strong and underrated in many mocks. If we got him at 40 I would be ecstatic. He is the perfect houck guy as he played tackle and moves to G in the pros. 40 bench presses. very strong. He would be our potential PB G for many years IMO. Its a cant lose pick at 40 but others will be there at 40 as well and it will be up to management to decide which will be best for us should we go OL at 40 which is a high possibility.

I would love for us to draft him in the second round at pick 40, however I don't see him lasting that long. He is undoubtedly the best Gaurd in this years draft just like davin Joesph last year, an Joesph went in the first round to the bucs, so I assume he will also go in the first round.

You know when you stack him up against levi Brown... is levi that much better? Obviously Levi plays LT so there's the main interest but still... is he that much better?

I have the same feeling about him too. For some unexplained reason, I think he's going to be the toast of this OL class. I just hope he miraculously falls to us in the second and we don't pass on him.

Top 2-3 pick for Blalock? No way. Even at #9, the Fins would get laughed out of the league.

Your assessment of Andrews vs Carey really amuses me. I don't think Carey's performance is a surprise at all. He was rated very close to Andrews. Most Fin fans would be screaming BUST from the roof tops if Vernon Carey had been moved to guard. Philly gets kudos from Fin fans for trading a second round pick to move up an select Andrews. Spielman get roasted for trading a 4th round pick to move up and get Carey. Makes no sense at all.

Blalock, Grubbs, and Sears all give me a feeling that there cant miss prospects for the guard postion. I remember reading a pospect profile for JB and they said they thought he could be a Hall of Fame type guard. Watching his youtube vid, man he just destroys peole. I hope we get one of these guys if we cannot get Staley. I'm hoping one of them is available at 40. I know Houck has the ability to find servicable lineman later in the draft but they may not have the impact of one of these guys.

1. I'm not saying we SHOULD use a top 2-3 pick to get him, just that I think he is gonna end up being so good and special of a player, that people will look back on this draft and say to themselves, " Wow!! This guy was "worthy" of being a top 2-3 pick".

2. Many had Andrews rated significantly higher than Carey. And YES, it was a very smart move on philly's part. What ticked me off and confused the hell out of many philly fans ( and livin in philly, I know lots of them, and though most are very nice people, they are EASILY the most annoying fans I've ever encountered, after hearing that stupid FLY EAGLES FLY!! SONG 2trillion times, one can't help but be filled with murderous rage!!:fire:), is that O-line was not a glaring need for them at the time.

3. Spielman DESERVED to be roasted, as any other human being with a quarter of their brain still working would have know Minne was full of crap, and there was NO way in hell they would have drafted him, O-line was the absolute LEAST of their problems at the time. Whereas philly at least had a "slight" need for an interior lineman at the time, Minne had NO need. And pretty much everyone in the world except Rick Spielman knew it. You DO realize this is the same guy that traded a 2nd rd pick for AJ Feeley, right?

So your final assessment is that Philly did okay when they used a 2nd round pick to move up and take a guard (a position you feel they didn't need to address), but Spielman is an idiot for using a 4th round pick for assuring that we would get a RT (an area that was a huge need for the Fins). Those are the facts. Anything else (including "knowing" what the Vikings would do or what negotiations transpired) is pure speculation.

IMO, the Fins got a player that is just as good or better and paid less to do it.
