Just curious as to what everyone's opinion is.

Justin Holland seems to have performed extremely well in camp, is a very experienced college QB from a pass first system, and even eye witness accounts on this site seem to vouch for how good he looked.

I know that a lot of people have been intrigued by Lemon, but I wouldn't be surprised if Holland takes the #3 spot (which would mean he might be the #2 active QB in week one). From here, Lemon could take the practice squad spot, or we might toss him into a trade with the Lions for Harrington in order to get him now. Or not, just a theory.

Brock Berlin will, to the delight of many on the board, probably lose his spot on the practice squad regardless. Marcus Vick probably has little chance of making the team, at least as a QB.

I don't believe Lemon is eligible for the psquad anymore, and besides I doubt they want to put him there. I think he's hands down better than Holland at this point.

Cleo may even challenge Joey Harrington for the primary backup position.

If you really think about it...the fact that the coaches haven't gone out of their way to grab a qualified backup QB until now, while they play this dangerous stare-down with the Lions for Joey Harrington...it actually speaks volumes of their comfort level with Cleo Lemon.

I watch a NFLE game Hamburg vs ??? (Berlin maybe). Anyway Brock's awful, how was this guy was the QB for the 'Canes:confused:

Sorry, ugh.............

That's a great point. Personally, I can't wait to see Lemon in the preseason.

I think that Holland will be our new practice squad guy. That's bad news for Berlin. If Vick makes the team, I think it'll be as a return man or a practice squad wide receiver.

I agree with ckparrothead about Lemon. I would also go so far as to say that
opening the season with Culpepper/Lemon/Holland doesn't sound that bad to me. Throwing Harrington into the mix is fine, but why blow a 7th if you don't have to. I saw a bit of Holland last year- mobile, solid arm, and seemed very much the leader that you'd want a quarterback to be. I'm pulling for him to stick, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Lemon play.

Not to get off subject,

but could someone explain to me why everyone is high on Clio (sp?)?

Couldn't agree more!!

I've never seen Lemon play so I can't make a judgement on him, however that being said I don't like the idea of the season starting without at least one veteran backup on the squad.

I think Saban is keeping Lemon under wraps, not letting the NFL know what we've got here. Saban likes to play his cards close to the vest, never letting on he's got Aces up his sleeve!

In Saban We Trust!

Harrington will be the #2. There is no way Lemon or Holland pass him on the depth chart.

Thats very true.

I see Holland bieng signed to the Practice squad and then he might be allocated to NFLE.

The only volume I hear is that the staff does not want to pay the high Millen price tag. You are a valued poster here, but how can you say that Cleo could possibly challenge Joey Harrington. Cleo does not have the experience Joey has, nor will he ever have that experience. He is just a journeyman and "prep qb" for Vick, which I read that.

I have to question how you come to this conclusion Parrot.

I would agree that Lemon probably is better than Holland at this point but simply because of experience learning the systems and speed of the NFL.

If your going to compare talent level of Lemon and Holland I'd have to say there is no proof to say either one is "hands down" better. Lemon has garbage time preseason experience and Holland hasn't even had the chance at that yet.

If the coaches were so comfortable with Lemon as you use as an argument for his potential, then IMO they would'nt be so determined to bring in Harrington at all.

If the Phins were so comfortable with Lemon they could have simply went out and signed Maddox for 3rd string and everything would be set right now.

Contrary to your opinion, I think it's obvious that the Phins know Lemon is not ready to start an NFL game.

The Phins have been very active in expressing interest in QB's. There hasn't exactly been an overloaded market of backup QB's with starting potential.

The Phins "dangerous stare down with the Lions" does not speak volumes for Lemon, it speaks volumes to the Phins knowing they need a legitimate QB to start their season.

The "dangerous staredown" isn't dangerous at all IMO.
I think the Phins are pretty confident they will get Harrington. The Phins know that even if have to wait for Harrinton's release that they are getting him based on his visit. The latest reports that were making offers for him yet again after pulling the initial offers shows they would like to get him in here sooner rather than later so he's ready to start the season for us.

If Lemon starts the season for us were in trouble. JMO.
