The Dolphins waived undrafted rookie receiver Justin Wynn Friday and signed Arena Football League veteran Anthony Armstrong, according to a source.

Wynn played one season at Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College in 2004, but dropped out to help his family.

From 2001-04, the 5-11, 195-pound Armstrong had 145 catches for 1,768 yards with nine touchdowns at West Texas A&M. He went undrafted so opted to play in the AFL. Last season, Armstrong was the AFL's third leading receiver with 85 catches for 1,148 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Dallas Desperados.

I know he wouldn't have, but I really wanted to see Wynn make the team after all he had been through.

Wasn't Orande Gadsden also an arena league WR? How's that turn out? Talent can come from many places. Sounds like he has more TD's and yards then anyone we have on the roster. I don't think we have any reason to overlook any at this point. JMO.

After a 1-15 season, no one has a lock on any position. Wait til TC & PS are over. We'll see who rises to the challenge and who stumbles.

Just a question on these signings & cuts of players like Wynn & Armstrong. Is there a minimum wage set by the NFL that these guys sign for? Some may only stay for a few weeks before they are gone, so I would imagine they would get a pro-rata wage for the time spent at the team as a practice squad player? I am right with this?

Surprisingly, Armstrong does have Parcells connection. According to a KFFL news wire item on April 8, 2005, Armstrong had a pre-draft workout with the Dallas Cowboys.

Well, there is a rookie minimum and a veteran minimum, and I would imagine they would be paid for the duration of time they practiced. Also, there is a daily pay for training camp and the season, and it is pretty nice too.

Anthony Armstrong was a rookie last year in the AFL and only had 10 receptios for 126 yards
