This contract is laughable. This guy seriously regressed as a passer last year and only won football games because they were able to be won by plays with his feet while most NFL games with require plays with the arm. He is Michael Vick without the character issues, and with or without those he wasn't ever good enough to win a championship.

I think a moderate extension was not out of the question, as even moderately successful QB's get good money, but most guaranteed money ever is a joke.
 
Kaepernick does some things well and I think there is long term potential there, but that contract is utterly ridiculous for a one read quarterback who had some absolutely terrible games and who had more help than basically any other player in the NFL.

He got Flacco money, and Flacco money was nuts even for Flacco (who I think is a much better quarterback).

They make these contracts so confusing. It actually doesn't look too bad when you look at it, because I don't see him getting a lot of the bonuses.

When I first saw the numbers, I was wondering how they were going to pay the guys who actually are responsible for them winning games.
