The Good
1) Chad Pennington--We have our QB!! Preseason or not he isn't turning the ball over, is making all the right reads, and throwing perfect passes. Have our WR's been that bad the past few years, or did they have nobody throwing them the ball. I think we know the answer now.

2) Ted Ginn Jr---Living up the #9 overall pick. Nuff said. Is getting better each week. Best WR we have had since OJ McDuffie.

3) Paul Pasqualoni and the defense---unbelievable effort thus far. The playcalling has been perfect, the tackeling has been solid, and the secondary is playing like a bunch of "ball hawks" going up and and getting take aways. Pasqualoni is pushing all of the right buttons.

The Bad
Jake Long--Doesn't seem ready to be a LT in this league. Whiffed on a couple Jax players last week and got destroyed at the point of attack. This week Pennington was running for his life the first couple series as Long was getting beat badly again. The o-line is doing outstanding in run blocking, but Long is breaking down in pass protection and that is hurting the line. Probably should be at RT this year, don't know if the coaches will make that switch

Dan Henning--That RED ZONE playcalling on the 1st drive of the game was horrible. Hopefully he gets more creative when the games really count. Might send Ricky running back to the weed if he trys just pounding it in when the entire world knows you just want to pound it in.

That's it though. A LOT more positives than negatives thus far this season. For the first time in about a decade things look to be on the up!!

as far as long goes i think he has struggled a little but remember this is a new o line and he will have to get the reps in to make himself a better player as well as the rest of the starting line.
i can recall vernon having a problem on the left side as well last year.
the LT position is by far the most important on the line and if something goes wrong you natuarly will point the finger at our #1 over all pick.
in time he will prove his weight in gold i believe .

Every game for Long is a new learning experience. It is something they can study in the film room and use it as a tool to get better.

Most of us don't expect Long to be a Pro Bowler this year, just don't let our qb get killed.

what ones have you been watching
The ones that show our O-Line protecting the QB, opening holes for the running back, and getting good push on most plays. Jake hasn't been perfect, but calling him "bad" is ridiculous. More times than not, he's been leading the push...

Read what I said...............I SAID the o-line is doing good with the run blocking. But with the pass blocking it hasn't been that good and Jake has been the #1 weak spot.

Fair assessment I'd say, I think your being a little overly critical of a rookie left tackle in pre-season. I would hope we wouldn't expect any rookie to be perfect in his first couple of pro games?

I also hope Ginn is much better than McDuffie ever was, who in my mind was a very limited receiver in my opinion.

When the game re-airs on NFL network at 10 am here in ATL, it'll be my first time watching them this preseason. So i'll reserve my judgement on the Jake the Giant until I've at least seen the 1st half of this game.

Joe Thomas was a pro bowl LT as a rookie last year and he went 3rd overall. So the bar has been set very high. Not expect Long to be perfect in pass protection.....but much better than what he has been. Long has been great in run blocking, but has seriously struggled in pass blocking. Not killing him, just pointing out the obvious.

McDuffie was a very solid NFL WR. Ginn might turn out to be better, but he is the best WR we have had since McDuffie which is no small feet or a knock in any way

What about Jalen Parmele? To me, he did incredible, he is such a powerful runner. I love this guy!

Some nominations to ad on:
The Good
Ricky Williams
He's running very strong and looks like the exended time off have given him very fresh legs and explosion while running.
Channing Crowder
When it comes to replacing Zach Thomas it's no easy task. Crowder seems to be around the ball much more and had a great game tonight. Hopefully he can take over the QB of the defense role.

The Bad
Ernest Wilford
Wow. Where has he been? Granted the Fins ran the ball for the majority of the second half but Wilford has not impressed in camp or in pre-season games. Hopefully he can show up during the regular season somehow.

My Opinion on Jake Long:
Only my opinion but I think given the fact that he's a rookie left tackle, he has done well. Not great, but well. I agree he does very well in run blocking but he needs to improve his pass protection. Even a #1 overall pick at left tackle needs some adjustment time so hopefully he can get that squared away for the regular season
